Kai and the Immortals

Yup! Actually I am considered a foreigner too. I am from Hong Kong, China. But I am now a citizen of the country.

Even thought Man's technology slowly slowly imprison the Immortal Beasts of the Elements, later as climate change does get serious. The Beast eventually escape to fulfill the cycles which the only solution unfortunately will be natural disasters.

Among the Human Immortals are the gods, Fuxi, Nu Wa, Shennong, Suiren, Gun and his son, Yu the Great. These gods had great contributions to mankind but sadly a bad impact on the environment.

Now the thing to develop is the main characters and how ASD tie in with the battle between the gods.

Just to let you in on something, Demi-gods especially children of the Beast Immortals have ASD or ADHD and have sensory issues. But these issues are usually like those of animals since after all they are animals and are in tuned with nature. But adding human point of view causes the sensory problems plus heavy metals you get yourself one kid who unless taught will have problems living with humans.

Although heavy metals can technically cause Autism, hardly anyones Autism is caused by them and i think you are opening a can of worms with that one, because it will tie into the whole vaccine issue and you'll have people screaming at you. It is not exactly an issue that promotes constructive conversation. You could also write the best novel of all time, but people will be like... it says silly things about heavy metals! It is bad.

As for sensory issues, it is difficult to describe. If there is too much sound, like in london when i goto restaurants with my girlfriend, then i cannot hear anything and i find it every hard to do anything. I am unable to filter out or ignore background noise, so it is like... my hearing becomes white noise, but very loud and it hurts.

With that said, i cannot stand silence. I will turn fans on, i will leave my computer on for the PSU fan and GPU fan. I find it hard to function without noise.

I like the idea behind your story very much, and i like the adovacy stance. However, good storys show both sides of the story! NT's should not be seen to be the bad guys. I think the good and bad parts of both groups should be represented.

hi Katcha,

Thanks for the reminder.. But the heavy metal= autism will not be much of a big focus. But you have to admit there are many places where heavy metals can seep into our food. Cadmium from batteries, Lead in toys, copper in old pipes... It's not a vaccine-related thing.

Of course, the headmaster of the Wu Xing Temple is a fictional MP= Member of Parliament. He plans to set up a series of schools catering to the needs of Aspies. But so far the NT population including the parents of Aspies have been apathetic to the cause. But not all NTs are bad to the bone of course.

Later during the course of the story, Kai meets his first NT friend who is the president of a community for teenage/adult Aspies much like what my friend and I have done. But becos of the social stigma, the club is underground for the time being as Singaporean society is not ready to accept them just yet.

But the aspects of Adults with ASDs are real, So Wu Xing Temple is the ASD sanctuary from the Human Immortals.

The Principal of Wu Xing Temple, Derek actually wanted ASD kids of all races to be able to ask for help. But however the problem like what ruennsheng, my other friend and my dad noticed that the number of the kids and parents to come to support groups are 99% chinese and are Christians. Where are all the Malays, Indians.etc? That's one issue I am trying to figure a way out to solve.

I am not being racist here. But this is the truth that we as the members of "As....." have noticed in the official support groups in singapore. Diversity issues. Even within the TEmple, there are not much malays

But unlike in the thread Ladies with ASD and our group, there are just as much Girls with ASD in Wu xing Temple as the boys.

I believe it is more of socioeconomic issues. People of a certain socioeconomic level will be more likely to notice autism, more likely to entrust the help of people who wish to help them, more likely to act for their futures and more likely to work with the current group of people to 'advocate autism'.

In my opinion, too, Wu Xing Temple should not just be Wu Xing... When publishing it to Singaporean audiences, it would be better to brand the temple as 'Five Stars Centre' because some of us may be too political correct to a fault...

And also, yeah, females also have autism. I know two undiagnosed Asperger's individuals myself, who still do not understand the extent of their Asperger's.

Hmm ok... but I believe the name can be changed... Maybe 5 Gods' Temple is a better name; Wu Sheng Temple. Wu Xing = 五行= 5 elements

Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth, these are representatives of the 5 Beast Immortals.

So maybe the Five God Temple is a better name. Whatathink?

You are really open-minded about this. Great job! :D

Though 5 elements, in my own opinion, also represent the Chinese philosophy of integrated thought, in the form of emotions, body organs and so on...

And also, hmm, with the internal conflict in the Five Gods Temple, do the young demi-gods feel puzzled or feel affected by the internal struggles?

Internal struggles of the structure of the Temple or the battle between their beast Immortal ancestors/parents and the human immortals?

Well internal struggles is not exactly bad in nature but a conflict of interests at times... But there is very little struggle within the temple.

Derek. the Ying Long Dragon and the principal once was tasked by Xuan Wu to find Qing Long, the Immortal Beast of wood and Nature who had gone insane after millienium of torture by Mankind. So he had to leave the Temple in the care of a Kirin, Johnny Zhong. The kids were not exactly used to him just yet.

Under Mr. Zhong, the temple was still alright but there was some conflict among the kids and the dragon constables and animal spirits. But it turns out the Kirin's ears are a bit old and could not hear that Qing Long was the one causing this ruckus. His voice of nature is in a frequency that animals and Aspies can hear. But humans are deaf to this.

It turns out that Derek knew that if he continued to lead when Qinglong is inciting the animals to fight back against Man, he will be affected. So Johnny is the clear headed one who knows what to react even though his frequency of hearing is bad.

Also I apologize if it sounded like the Five God Temple is a bit racist since all of the adults and teens there are chinese.

However this is a reflection of reality now. According to be supportive parents, they noticed that among the parents and children who come to support groups.
95 - 99% of them are Chinese!

sorry typo

According to my supportive parents, they noticed that among the parents and children who come to support groups 95 - 99% of them are Chinese!

Well it doesn't matter to me whether people do get reached out and know 'orh, my child has ASD and I gotta make him better'. The thing that matters could be giving them hope that overcomes the sense of guilt/shame for having a really imperfect kid!

Really I hope other races do not feel bad. However it's really the truth, you remember that last time we were at Pathlight? Almost 99% of the kids and parents are Chinese.

But I think this will let the parents of other races reflect on their attitudes and themselves.
