Last thing that amazed you...

How tiny and complex the parts inside a Hammond tonewheel organ are. I've had them apart to fix them up before. About 500 wires below each set of keys, wires thinner than some human hair, 9 switches under each key. The sounds made from a super precision gear train and 91 little tonewheels with a sound pickup on each one. And of course the rest of the circuit board and all. What amazes me is these were first sold in the 1930s just like this. How many devices from this era can you expect to still see running smooth and quiet, if at all? The last one was made around 1975, so even the newest ones are vintage.
