Looking for help on how to cope with roosters crowing at night

@Mono - Most towns and cities have noise and pet ordinances that prohibit roosters in ruban settings. I don't know what country you're in, but suggest you investigate the local rules and regulations for keeping poultry in residential areas. If there is something like an animal control office or officer for your area, then contact them. File a complaint, request enforcement of the local rules, and if you can't do that, then I'd go directly to the owners, face to face meeting, and tell them that their roosters are interrupting your sleep and request them to immediately deal with the situation.

You absolutely should not have to suffer every night due to some rude, thoughtless idiot's livestock.
Seconding this.

Many a time, I woke up to a rooster that my next door neighbor had. Couldn't do anything about it because of various reasons, so often I'd wake up at 3am and hear it scream its head off.

Look into if you can. The choice to house livestock was not considerate of the treatment center.

Well, oddly enough, I found a unanticipated method of dealing with a rooster just two hours ago. And even more unusual is that it took place inside the building that is shown on my avatar. And that smaller black creature in that avatar was the willing tool for the rooster problem. You're probably putting two and two together here.....
I've had over a half-dozen chickens in my place, coming over the 6' fences from the neighbors on both sides of me for the last two months. My dogs shoo them out of the barn and yard and over the fences. Today the rooster, instead of running and flapping over the fence, decided to hide in a nook in the barn. Bad choice. My black Labrador found it and the rooster made some godawful noises and it went quiet. I got pretty upset that the rooster probably died. I'll have to go back out after a while and see- it's in a place that's hard for me to get to.
Your problem is different, it sounds like a dog won't be of help. I'd suggest a fan as well. I use a small old Patton space heater that is pretty noisy- not obnoxiously, it just makes an unvarying wall of sound at possibly 80? decibels.....

My dad started keeping chickens after that. The one that was mine died at about a year old. Then I had another and it died young as well. I think I am through with trying to have things like that for myself. I should mention on the family pet rooster story that they decided to give us a short time frame to find another place for him. So at least he didn't get killed or anything. I'm not really sure what would have been done with him if they had taken him.
Thanks for letting us know. I still feel bad for you, but it's good to at least know there was a short time to find him another place.

Ouch, sorry to hear that! Nope, sadly a dog is not an option for me. Unless either the dog or the rooster can climb a pretty high fence...

Right? Not considerate is exactly right. Supposedly it's for the people there during the day, but there's absolutely no on there at night - but me... Thankfully my parents will look into it :)

At any mods, sorry for double posting. With the classic BB boards, I'd manually prep a post with quotes from several people. I'm not sure yet how to do that here. I'm used to vintage BB boards :)

Update: The rooster has been relocated to a nearby farm :) My parents can still hear him sometimes, but he's far away enough that it doesn't bother them. I feel much better and can once again look forward to going to bed/sleep :)
