Maybe it was a blessing in disguise I got banned from Wrongplanet

Today I visited Wrongplanet just to check it out, and man some of the comments from certain male users are so callously toxic, dismissive, invalidating and just disgusting that I feel like maybe it was a good thing that I left such an environment. A certain member named after a famous brown soda is the most toxic person I've ever seen on said website, which is saying something. Him and a few other members constantly making fun of people with depression, calling them "leeches for compassion", "lazy bums", and so many other derogatory insults I can't believe that Wrongplanet even has a Haven section to support people who need support when we have members like this.

Another member openly talks ill of a Wrongplanet member who passed away and denigrates him for being homeless, and who also has a history of belittling those with depression.

Another member is a blatant white supremacist (OK there were a lot of those on Wrongplanet according to my brother) talking fondly of slaughtering people from the Middle East

Another member speaking of killing the homeless.

I can go on forever but I think that what I witnessed today on Wrongplanet suffices. The place is a toxic cesspit oozing with negativity, racism and hate, and thank God I left such a place. I initially spent months depressed that I left Wrongplanet, even feeling worthless and suicidal that I got banned there in 1 week, but I now feel proud to report that I'm happy I was banned from such a toxic environment and that I feel like this place is where I belong.

It's funny how life can work out sometimes, the things we initially hate end up being good for us.

Never been to WP but it's good to know which places to avoid. Glad you got outta there. Toxic forums are a drag...

I’ve never used Wrong Planet but I did use another forum for a couple of years before it was shut down suddenly by the owners who were acting very strangely and tyrannical for months before the site went down. They kept banning people permanently for questioning some of their actions and things they said and a few minor infractions that didn’t even warrant banning.

Welcome. I agree it's a toxic place (my opinion of course). Funny though, I found it to be dominated by members that were as "woke" as you could get, including the founder who actually believes (he's posted as such) that white people, all white people based solely on the color of their skin are racist no matter what; literally to a person (himself included of which he does his best to atone for). It is a race obsessed place and as such most members who are active in the politics thread easily buy into the racial division agenda put forth by those in power.

Obsessively woke/pc people are always really messed up and toxic.

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) is an English adjective meaning 'alert to racial prejudice and discrimination' that originated in African-American Vernacular English (AAVE). Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as sexism, and has also been used as shorthand for left-wing ideas involving identity politics and social justice, such as the notion of white privilege and slavery reparations for African Americans.

Woke - Wikipedia

adjective, Slang.(often used in the phrase stay woke)
having or marked by an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially those related to civil and human rights: In light of incidents of police brutality, it’s important to stay woke.He took one African American history class and now he thinks he’s woke. We're trying to make woke choices in life.
aware of the facts, true situation, etc. (sometimes used facetiously): The moon landing was staged. Stay woke!A tomato is a fruit and not a vegetable. Stay woke.

Even Alex Plank himself doesn’t post there anymore. He’s a jerk as well. He boasted about how many dates he got on Tinder under the guise of “helping me” there. I also got ostracized for not worshiping a certain member there and he turned people against me. You can do many things to “save the world” but make one mistake in someone else’s eyes? You are the scum of the Earth and worthy of contempt.

I haven't seen Alex Plank in years. I wonder if he even runs Wrongplanet anymore.

I had to deal with that jerk as well. He joked about my struggles and even claimed I was playing an “act” as well as a “game.” He even said it was my fault the speed dating event that was supposed to take place in my area was cancelled.

He doesn’t. He gave the reigns to someone named after a cheap cereal product who is autocratic and tyrannical. He also attacks other men to make himself look good for women.

When I was on Wrongplanet the members were very woke to the point where I got accused of being a sexist only for saying I'm against RADICAL feminism (operative word here being radical, as in I distinguish between regular feminism and radical feminism) and I was kicked off the forum and deemed a misogynist for very mild views I never thought would be considered sexism.

Granted my brother was a member of Wrongplanet during a different time and according to my brother the members on Wrongplanet were the opposite, i.e. they were ultra radical white supremacists and racists. I guess my brother joined the forum when people were more racist and hateful and I joined the forum when people were more liberal and woke. Seems like the forum has gone from one extreme to another.

It was also ok for them to bash men as a whole and just disagreeing with as you said radical feminism got you branded as a “angry male incel who is also a Christian and loves Trump” which was ridiculous. You are also right that the Haven rules were often violated. I got ripped apart verbally in there despite how I wasn’t breaking any rules. I just really hope a certain person there doesn’t become a notable figure (Rhymes with Ford) in the autism community. I would cease with it completely if that came to pass.

I am glad that I did not fall in with those people. The most toxic people I have seen were about a year ago when I was trying to understand my earlier social and sexual isolation that was during a socially important time of my life and I started encountering stuff from Incels. The men (?) absolutely scared me. I have rarely seen such entitlement, hatred, and misogeny. As somebody who had struggled with connection the raw contempt towards women disturbed me. Reading such things made me feel unclean and I could see the barriers women have in trusting men. It sounds like people contributing to Wrong Planet are just as sick.

They are hyper vigilant against anyone who they think is an incel and that’s just as bad. I never said I hated women and they thought just because I am depressed for not having a relationship meant I was misogynistic. How fair is that? One person did retract what she assumed about me and even apologized. I just wish some people here would do the same.

The very name "Wrong Planet" will eventually attract people with either misanthropic tendencies or superiority complexes (I'm not like these OTHER people). To contradictively bond with each other while carrying such needless hate (which is always self-directed hate turned outwards), they construct arbitrary banners to rally under. These are often extremist or niche to maintain the USvsTHEM world view. Simplistic ideals that they don't believe in, all for a cheap excuse to spit bile without damaging the self-image. It's characterized by an attitude of all talk, zero principle. I would know, it is similar to how I spent my angsty early teenage years!

It's a shame because the "wrong planet" phrasing is sort of a romantic way to express the neurodivergent experience, but if you can't recognize within yourself the similarity, that you're still wholly human in your flaws and virtues, then it's you that ends up drawing the lines between yourself and others.

Funny enough that's exactly what the members who accused me of being sexist likened me to: so called incel members (I think they were referring to you) who apparently had a hard time with women and thats why they were sexist. I understand that there are those who legitimately are sexist who have a hard time with women, but to lump in all single men who have a hard time with women as being incels and sexist is ironically sexist in of itself.

The nerve of those self righteous jerks.

And of course I know you're not Elliot Rogers nor are you sexist. There is a difference between being entitled and expecting women to like oneself versus understanding that women have the autonomy to like whoever they want, while still despairing the pangs of loneliness and wishing that one day one can find a mate.
