Media does not teach good values!

I see. Hard thing for me if a show don't get my attention in 5 minutes, I won't watch it. When I jump to the other part of the show that was showing drugs, that part was a flag for that this show is not for me. From reading what written in Wiki, I see Breaking Bad is a popular show.

Well, I never watched the show in the beginning either. Didn't think the basic premise was all that interesting. But I was wrong...I just stuck with it and quickly began to enjoy the show as it turned out to be unique in so many ways. A very odd combination of tense drama and comedy about a good man who went "breaking bad".

It is hard for me to find something I enjoy watching. I can deal with most of the consumerism in media. I find most of their fashion sense quite tacky so it's not like I'm influenced to buy anything. :p
I did permanently swear off one brand of ice cream I'd never even tasted before because their commercials were an all new level of filthy and disgusting. And Hulu was in love with them for a few weeks. I nearly swore off Hulu in the process. I don't mix well with advertising.

I think the issue here is that no one person gets to decide for everyone else what is "appropriate" media. As Epath13 wisely says, the issue is freedom of speech, and as a writer/journalist by profession, I believe there needs to be as few constraints as possible on that. I do understand Penguin's concerns, esp regarding material that children are exposed to; however, parents need to be monitoring and taking responsibility for that, not demanding media be censored for everyone. I wrote on the freedom of speech issue recently if anyone cares... Lichen Craig: Je Suis Charlie: What Does That Really Mean?

Violence, violence, violence, especially against women. And no consequences for anyone's behavior. I think the entertainment industry is full of sick people with NO values whatsoever except that money excuses everything.

Perhaps me overthinking again, but I see the issue being more the respect, politeness, and common decency. I have told some members of feared groups directly that their way is not for me, but they didn't get mad at me, much less send off somebody to shoot me. And I do believe taking pleasure in killing or gloating over the death or harm of someone is more a sign of a severe mental disturbance than somebody proudly defending their right to freedom of expression.
