@JudgeAs for Reno, your big problem is Sureno gangbangers-violent and crazy about their "colors" (you don't want to wear red in much of Reno, even if you're blanco). I'm actually more scared of Reno than I am of Sacramento-it just seems like a much rougher, more desperate city.
Not a problem in all the eleven years I've lived in Nevada. Truth is, such groups keep their violence primarily to their own people and neighborhoods. But then I live on the periphery of the metropolitan area of affluence with very low crime, and such folks would stick out like a sore thumb to even be here.
Never gave much thought to wearing my red jacket, but then as an old man you wouldn't find me walking in their neighborhoods to begin with. Though I was just in such an area a few days ago, in my car in the daylight hours.
The only people with relatively high profiles here are the Angels and Vagos who tend to behave themselves since the Nugget shootout some years ago. Though no one-percenters are allowed to wear their cuts during "Street Vibrations". Let's see what happens in Sturgis as to whether or not Reno holds Street Vibrations this fall.
I've been in countless dangerous neighborhoods over a much longer time in many California cities. Worked in places like Richmond, East LA and Oakland. Seriously, I'd rather be here in Nevada with open carry and CCW. But then I never spend much time late into the evening anywhere. Too many drunks on the road often coming from a bad night at the casinos. By far my "greatest nightmare", and far more common.
