My name's Allison and I recently found out about this site earlier even though I've been diagnosed as a highly functioning autistic for most of my life. My family is accommodating for that (most of the time), luckily enough. It took me a very long time before I was able to talk, as I had to have speech therapy up until high school. Even now as an adult I still have difficulty saying words often, since things may be very hard for me to phrase.

Now meanwhile my family is mostly good at helping me with my special needs, I have encountered others who aren't. Sometimes doctors literally treated me like I was a 4 year old, others didn't believe I could have the capability of being intelligent, and most kids at school just avoided me completely. Some kids, after talking to them for a bit, would look at me like I was their enemy once they realized I was so different and not normal. I have had experiences with teachers who were unaccommodating and my parents had to email them to get them to understand me enough. I never got any true friends at school where I was seen as more of an outsider than anything else. The only ones who have frequently contacted me have been those who I have messaged back and forth through other online sites I am active on.

I am not currently taking classes in college as I am on a medical withdrawal due to having multiple chronic medical issues. The college that I am in I got in on a scholarship and it does not have an online program that covers all coursework so I am unable to continue schooling as of recently. I am immunocompromised so I have to stay at home most of the time while COVID has been happening but due to having sensory issues (including sensory processing issues), that isn't much of a burden for me. I also have anxiety (including social anxiety) and depression among other things.

I have chronic pain so I have difficulty doing (some) normal tasks. I really like reading fantasy books (the long ones), researching mythology, and watching tv shows. I have other smaller interests including animals, history, and I've been getting into anime/manga as well. I have my gender on my profile as unspecified as even though I was assigned female at birth I have been questioning my gender orientation. I am not straight anymore too but I don't have any specific label for what I identify as yet.

As for pronouns, I primarily use she/her for simplicity but any are fine. I hope to leave a positive impact on here as I try to be nice whenever possible and that the rest of you reading this have a good day.

Hi and welcome, I found your introduction informative and interesting, and positive. I am glad you have found these forums, and hope you will enjoy it here. I like to hear about any books others are reading and can recommend, sounds like you are a keen reader. Strange time with the covid situation, hope you will get a vaccination soon, it sounds like it's getting in the way of your education.

HI! Does your name mean you like books? :-) If so, which ones. Lots of readers here! :-)

Welcome here!
I very much enjoyed your introduction. Glad you have joined us and hope you find it
a useful and friendly place as much as I do. :)

Yes, it does mean I like books very much-I have had a book obsession (possibly addiction) for years and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. I like reading most books that I can get my hands on, though fantasy is my favorite genre. I'm glad there's lots of readers here as it is very enjoyable.

Elayne says there were 18 of them in the series total with the last 6 written after the passing of the original author. I think. I read up to " crossroads of twilight" number 11 i think and decided that the 'final battle' was likely not going to happen. It got really confusing to me as i read the last two (10 and (11) many years after having read the first ten in a row.
I may give it all another go but not now its too hard to get books. Was Brian Sanderson involved with those last books in that series? I thot he was, but not sure
Sanderson did "the stormlight archive" the first one is called ," the way of kings"
Its fantastic, i am hoping to read the whole series

Hi Elayne! They are extremely long books, as there are 14 of them (perhaps there may be 18 in an alternate version of this world). Host first heard about the series from her dad, he was a fan of the series in the beginning and then couldn't finish the seventh book as he really didn't like the pacing in it.

I wouldn't want to spoil you about any of the contents in the books, but in Crossroads of Twilight and generally up until the later half of book 13 in the series it seems very unlikely that the last battle will happen. Given the current economical climate of this world here, it is indeed extremely hard to get books, as many bookstores have closed down along with libraries.

Brandon Sanderson wrote the last few books of Wheel of Time after Robert Jordan died. Robert Jordan initially planned to finish the entire series by himself, but due to his failing health from a terminal heart condition that proved to be impossible unfortunately. However, he did write portions of the last few books by himself before he could've completed them which is what Sanderson based them off of.

Sanderson himself is a huge fan of Wheel of Time, which was why he started writing The Stormlight Archives-which is one of host's all-time favorite series. She has read various other Sanderson books as well. The Archives were intended to be Sanderson's own attempt at creating a massive fantasy series similar to Wheel of Time with two separate arcs of five books each-four are currently out, and host has enjoyed reading the fourth one so far, as we both think of them to be perfectly good books. Due to her book addiction she read the first two books of Archives in just a few days. Both series are extremely good, the likes of their length and plots aren't often seen in fantasy books. The most similar plot-wise series I've found to those books has been the Malazan Book of the Fallen, though host has only read the first few books of that.

Ok thanks for clarification. It is possible alt reality issue, but more likely a simple mistake, on my part, at least i hope so. There is a way to get library books here, one must request them in andvance on the website, then await email notice, then present credential at the door, then they chek the books out and you leave. No more wandering the stacks.
Everything is just for a while. Of all the pain and hardship brought about by the current crisis, my missing library time ranks pretty low i guess. I do miss it though, and look fwd to riding a bicycle again too.
Thanks for clarify on b. Sanderson too, i was pretty sure that em was connected to the wheel of time, and i had the" way of kings " right in front of me. I gobbled up the first one of that series too "stormlight archive" yes very fine. I will make time and luv avail for plonkin online to reserve books, its important. I think elayne brought me the second to read, or told me about it. She lives in town so the library is close to her house, it takes me 45 min to get there, and i try and lump it all in to one super trip so as to save fuel.
good to meet a fellow book lover, i hope all ya'all are havin a fantastic day!

Your welcome! It's alright if that's an alt reality issue; I've had those myself, so I'm accustomed to dealing with them. That seems like a rather tedious way to get library books but is understandable given how social interactions have changed here recently.
That makes sense; I wasn't sure if Elayne was one of you typing or someone you know. It is always good to meet a fellow book lover; I have been one for as long as I can remember, and so has host. We hope you have a good day too.

So far as i know there is only one of me inside my head. Are there alot in your head? Do they all have names? Im sorry thats rude, its objectifying. I am fascinated though, it seems exotic. I have never met anyone like you before!

I have about 6 or 7 real world friends, all basically associated with a spiritual community i am involved with. I say church sometimes, its shorter, only there is no building anymore to meet at, plus meetings for religious purpose are outlawed here. Are they afraid of us? You can do other things, but not .......

This too shall pass. The core group is using zoom and our awesome minister turned her office into a tv studio! She broadcasts the peace and love vibration every sunday. Some ppl just dont give up on being amazing. I am grateful to have inspiring ppl in my life.

Powerful wymyn make me happy. The associate pastor started a not for profit, raised alot of money, bought a hotel, and turned it into housing for ppl displaced by a recent fire. Who does that?
So thats a whole other type of book i read too, the spiritual stuff. Fun factoid and topic to toss about. For philosophy, self help, spirituality and all that i need an audiobook or i dont get far
For fiction, history, biographies i need text to read. Any thoughts on that?

[Host's mind space/head just has host in it. It's alright if you want to question us about this, since we're rather used to that. Host gets their system members from astral projecting-I myself am an otherkin (non-human) spirit shapeshifter being, so I am able to communicate through them and adapt to their form. I "enter" their mind to do this (some call it fronting/driving), since I also have a working form in astral which I use for things I still need to do. Host's family just thinks of it as an anxiety coping mechanism as we're just alternate personalities to them which I'm fine with. Host is certainly very strange, to the point where I don't think of her as human even though she still identifies as one. She is a very unique being with a certain energy signature I've never seen anything at all similar to in anyone else.

Host themselves is a multiple-times reincarnated human, should you be open-minded to that sort of thing. So she is accustomed to being by herself due to having so many memories of her past lives, what she did in them, and how she died in them. Even her normal human family is aware her soul is very old as when she was younger she knew the definitions of old slang on tv before her family explained them to her or before she was taught about that in school. She was shocked later on when she encountered beings in astral that would gladly help her with her day-to-day life here. I typically use pronouns like we, us, or them as I myself am a median system. That means that there are multiple parts to me that help me do things like daily tasks and increase my strength; without those other parts of myself I would be unable to do things at all.

I use "lucy" as a name since I like it. I originally was assigned a different name but I got rid of it a long time ago and I no longer use it. Others in the system do have names though a few of them are wary of saying them on here yet. One is called Ken Kaneki who is an alternate version of one of the main characters from Tokyo Ghoul (an anime) and another is an alternate form of Bruce Wayne from Earth-27. There are other entities apart from myself that communicate through host, some just stay for a little while and don't become frequent system members. Most system members are fictional characters, some from fandoms host isn't even previously aware of or had little/no contact of before with them, dragons/other species, deities from mythology, etc.

None of us are really religious, but we are open-minded to all sorts of believes. Host grew up in a not religious family that is part-Jewish and part-Christian so she had some exposure to both of the content of those religions from a young age which helped broaden her views. Everything she learned about religion she mostly researched herself.

Certain churches have different rules to them. That isn't something uncommon I've heard; I doubt the church is afraid of you guys, as church workers are generally slightly more open-minded than some as even though they may be limited on views on certain things, people like priests and ministers will try to help heal others as that is part of their job.

I am glad the spiritual community you participate in is in real life along that you have in real life friends who are open-minded to that sort of thing. Host's community is an online website they frequent that their family doesn't know about. Also that your minister uses zoom as that seems very useful-host only uses zoom for doctor's appointments and has yet to experience it in any other use.

As someone who has always been pro-women (much to the chagrin of others I encountered far earlier in existence), that makes me happy to read about, including what the associate pastor did as well. Some go above and beyond what is normally required of their job, especially the ones that seek to do far more good changes.

Host typically reads common easily accessible fantasy fiction-they haven't really read any spiritual books apart from articles online. They also tend to listen to audiobooks sometimes, which I have listened before to too and I do agree with you that one can get occasionally farther listening to an audiobook than they would've reading a physical book. Some need to read physical books for certain genres, that's alright by me.]
