New person....

They really should take a serious look at that and address it accordingly.

That'll never happen, especially since Alex has abandoned the site and is starting up a new place it seems; I've been getting emails from him (to other WP members) that he's got a new project planned and that it's apparently going to be good for the autism community which I doubt because just look at the state of WP lol

Hi @RESleight
Welcome to the forum. I was involved in online autism web activity 20 years ago and it was full of unpleasantness so I backed off. I spent quite some time looking at all the groups and forums I could find this time around, before deciding on this one as the friendliest, best moderated and most supportive one I'd seen. I hope you'll enjoy your time here and that your message gets to the person you lost contact with.

Thanks. All is well.

Welcome, @RESleight! :)
Hi, I came from WP. There site seemed to crash a lot. You could type long posts and they seemed to vanish. I’ve found this one and haven’t really gone back.

Welcome. ;)
I know what you mean by that. I would always make sure to have a backup in a text document to copy/paste in the event that exact issue occurred. It was always frustrating to have typed a few paragraphs, only to have it pull a vanishing act upon posting.
I was a WP member, too.
Eventually, I was frustrated by the problems you mentioned and also the huge amount of spam there.
So I was looking for another forum and found this site. Since I've found this one haven't really come back - like @disconnected said.

When I came here I recognized some members I knew from WP.
When someone I talked to regularly there had problems with posting messages, I got a message here instead to inform me of this problem. Afterwards we continued our conversation here.
So there is a chance that you'll find this person you're looking for as well. Good luck with this.

Real spam was an issue.

In my case, the system could not tell the difference between this joke thread, a few of us were participating in over there at WP, and actual spam. If that was the case...must have been because I never caused any problems. The more I think about it...the more I am inclined to consider that as the reason for being banned. Must have been an automated response to the joke thread there involving the posting of one single letter. Maybe one too many...too fast. That would make the most sense to explain why it was picked up and I got banned as a result. I've yet to check back there.

That is possible, or, if you had inadvertently offended a member and they happened to be a friend of a particular moderator, there, that could have been the cause. There is a member on WP who has some control over the forum, and, fortunately for him, one of the moderators is not a good person, and will always have his back. I know this from personal experience, although, I wasn't banned, I, instead, was publically shamed for doing something I would never do, and completely out of my character. Fortunately, my friends, there, knew me well enough to pass it off as nonsense. Still, it had an incredibly negative effect on my mind. I wont tell you what to do, but, I would say, be careful, there, and don't get involved with anyone via PM, as that particular member is very convincing, will pretend he is a good person and use everything you have written, out of context/ against you, for his own means to an end, and the moderator is in his corner and will meet his needs, even if that means banning or shaming for nothing you have actually done. I hope this isn't to much information. Something else. The member manipulates situations by using multiple accounts. You may not notice you are participating in such a situation. This happened to me, as I wasnt picking up on it. All the best to you.

Unfortunate you had that kind of experience there.

That's a bit much... Definitely not the case here.

I had the same thing happen to me at WP. Pulled it up one morning to find I was permabanned, no warnings or anything, just kicked off out of the blue. Even stranger, the ban was reversed the following day. I decided to leave soon after that. And yeah, posts would disappear, the captcha monster would sometimes eat the session alive with an impossible to solve captcha. The software has always been buggy and Alex only updated the ancient original software when all the mods quit at once, and the software it was replaced with was even worse. Alex doesn't really seem to care about the site, it helped him get his career teaching actors how to play autistic characters, and he lives in Beverly Hills and drives a Jaguar convertible, and now that he has a successful life WP is just an annoyance.

There are a few rules here, no politics and no discussion of vaccines.
