Ok... so hello?

Hello Ami, I'm just trying to get my head around your situation. I wish there was something I could say which won't sound like I'm patronising or being useless. I just hope you can find a solution to all this. My instincts are telling me that you ought to go to your college/university and explain exactly what's going on, and that you have autism. Surely they ought to be able to do something to actually help you? What about consolidating your work so far so you can take some "time out" to get yourself in a better position and return to studying where you left off? I'm not sure i understand exactly what's gone on, but if there have been some deadlines you've missed then they ought to be more lenient with you as you have autism and that should be taken into consideration more.

I hope this isn't going over old stuff with you.

Well of course they know I have autism. My loans are done through banks, though, and Financial Aid deals with them. They want their money. I'm not sure any bank anywhere cares more about autism than money.

Hello Ami, the model Jetta that you have is known for the problem that you describe. It is usually something like a tune up, the mass air meter or a sensor that will correct this problem. I often find replacement batteries at a junk yard for $10.00 or so, and they will usually put them in for you for free.
As far as your living and school go, your approach does not seem logical. You cannot build a house with just hope, you also need some lumber. I admire your drive to finish your education, and to repay your debt, but it seems as though you do not have the tools to complete the job. My thoughts are that you would certainly be better off in a state that takes care of it's people, such as Wisconsin or Minnesota. Many people, especially from the south, move to Wisconsin for the benefits they offer.
I agree that living in your car is not that bad, but it is not likely to help you reach your goal, especially if it requires more of you to move it, than of it to move you.
Have you thought about a job, even if it is day labor. This should provide the funds for a battery, and perhaps a tune up. Then, with a running vehicle, you could get around to start the search for better circumstances. At least you would be independent.
I believe you have what it takes to reach your goal, but you might need to delay your plans for education while you restock your resources.
Good Luck.

Hi Ami, welcome to AC. Your predicament seems somewhat unique to me in terms of someone trying so hard to hang onto the dream of higher education.

I have no knowledge of the local media or sentiment in your area, but if you had been in Northern California or Northern Nevada, I'd consider trying to determine a well-known local television news reporter/anchor and e-mail them your story as best as you can explain. (You might narrow such a search by starting with a CBS affiliate.)

It just seems to me this sort of thing would be the kind of "human interest" stories they look for. And if they pick it up, there's always a possibility of compassionate viewers who manage to aid people on a very broad scale of support.

Just a thought, anyways. Hope it all works out for you somehow.

Him Salmon :) And Judge I've tried contacting media. Nothing. The church learned about my fundraising campaign online and was a little more eager to help. One gentleman replaced my battery for me and gave me a gas card and they raised a little bit of money for me so I would have a few extra dollars for a few weeks. My car still stalls, but I am no longer living in their parking lot. I lost the ability to charge my notebook from their outside wall outlet, so I was offline a few days. I updated my fundraising page to see if I could get help with paying for my tuition while I just live in my car. I am anxious to start back school this semester, but since I don't qualify for financial aid, I have to come up with it out of pocket. It will be too expensive to raise the money for financial aid, but maybe I can get enough to be able to take some classes this fall.
