Pastor/Real Estate

So l was told in strong terms to meet someone at a property after l told then -no- l don't like that area- too much traffic. (Major bridge and a big hospital on the same road). This person was the real estate agent then divulged she was also a pastor.

Then this person switched into- l am a pastor and blah blah blah. Like that gives her a right to command me what to do.

Then she went into song and dance about blah blah. But after she was pushy- l turned her off mentally.

Do you just turn off mentally after someone totally is telling you what to do after you expressed in clear terms why you no longer wish to do something.

I don't usually get to know anyone well enough for that to be an issue. I wouldn't stay in contact with anyone who acted like that. Being a pastor would not be a recommendation to me, especially if said in the way you describe. Just say no...

Good point. I just blocked them. I was upset that they became so bossy.

Real estate people have to be pushy, well mostly. It's amazing how wrong they are with property suggestions, after you've told them what you do/don't want.

Hi yes i've experienced and also done this to people if i have a thought the internal social filter is often missing and the words come out and then due to people's responses i find oopppsss 'i've done it again' as always i dislike it when people do this to me and lack a inability to not do it ie 'talk at them' wether they've asked for my view or not, also find it hard to not 'over talk' and know when the person has lost interest. I probably 'tell people what to do almost entirely from my own perspective!!!!!

She was skating on just pure rudeness. I was mad at myself because l talked to her for a few minutes (where are my boundaries?). Then l got off the phone and realised l am mad because she is pushy. But a reality check says agents can be nasty pushy, at least the bad ones can but don't cloak it with the church covers thy holy arse.

Oops. We all can go off on a aspy tangent but l tend to be more accepting of those on the spectrum. This lady struck me as NT.

I still don't get how "being a pastor" is supposed to be compelling for a property that you are not interested in...

Yes, pushy/bossy people, or people trying too hard to sell me things is a huge turn-off for me. And as for her baing a pastor, well, I'm not religous so it means nothing to me and even if I were, that does not give her authority over me or the right to be rude.

Usually I am quite easy going, but last November at a conference/retreat a person who had been asssigned to me to chat with me was quite pushy on a topic where I had said I did not want to go.

I was really upset that they disregarded my clear line, which I had laid down, and pushed just the issue that I said I did not want to talk about (becuase my theology was different from theirs - on this small detail).

In this case I wrote to the leadership of the event to voice my concerns.

Apparently neither does the pastor.

Moonlighting pastors? A bad idea IMO, even if to supplement one's income. Too much potential exposure to ethical compromise.

Buyer: "Excuse me, but what does heaven have to do with all of this?"

Pastor/Realtor: "Location, location, location!"

Yep! I don't think turning off mentally is even a problem. I think it's a great coping strategy for dealing with unreasonable people.

It started with my mother giving me non-stop advice after I became an adult. It was done with lovingly and with good intentions, but I thought I was doing fine on my own and never asked for her advice. I found the best way to deal with her was to thank her for the advice and then go and do it my way.

I now have a neighbor that has moved his fence forward a few feet (to make room to park a vehicle behind it). Then he mentioned that I should move my fence forward, too. I agreed, but haven't done it yet ... and that was almost a year ago. Every time he asks me about it, I just casually say, "I'll get to it."

If I can't just agree politely then I just have to leave the situation. Two weeks ago, my brother tried to get me to convince me of some anti-vaxx brainwashing. I told him there's no science behind it. He yelled at me, "Read the ******* book!" I just said, "Okay, we're done here." and I left.

The real estate agent's job is to help you meet your needs and wants, not hers. If she is not willing to listen to you, then I think you should find a new real estate agent.

Anybody who is pushy now can quickly irritate me and l have to completely back away for a second because l become upset. Not screaming upset, just like why are you so pushy? Are you an abusive person? My feelers are always ahead checking out for abusive people. That is almost the first thing that pops into my head now.

Yes. Low drama.

I used to work in real estate. What happened had nothing to do with being a pastor. It's just simply that most likely she didn't have anything in your price range in the area you wanted. It just doesn't exist, so she showed you something closer to your price range, just to see if you'd like it.

~And the other stuff, she was just making conversation and perhaps trying to let you know she was trustworthy.

~But yes, all that being said, it is really annoying.

Actually l called to see that place. It was in my price range. But l don't know that area. So she gave me directions. Go past this hospital (huge), and it's before a bridge, (bridge to good size city) on east coast. I thought about it and said l don't want to battle getting in and out of traffic like l did in the last town l lived in. Plus l decided l would rather live in a bat cave closet near the beach. Just need a little flea infested beach to sit on like Waikiki.

I have owned several properties. Tiny bit of experience.

Thanks. Oh so you were a agent before. Before l buy the Trump tower - l will check with you.☺
