Does anybody else have a very strange experience when they eat a piece of fresh pineapple and then drink water immediately after? For me, it makes the water taste terrible and gives me an uncomfortable feeling in my mouth.
Me too. Milk also tastes terrible after pineapple. Apparently the bromelin temporarily affects your taste buds.

it dilutes the acid and distributes it throughout the softer part of the mouth.

I enjoy it on pizzas, the juice is sweet, and it's high in vitamin C. Although for some reason, shops never seem to state this on their bottles. They always claim that orange juice is healthier.

I have been spoiled traveling in Asia. In; Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, I had exceptionally sweet, fresh, tasty, pineapple. But my favorite are mangos and pomelos.

Fresh. Prepared from the whole fruit.

I do like it on pizza.
@Tom were you welcomed in the northern parts of Italy there? ;)

Homemade candied pineapple and fried pineapple rings.
Takes some time, but they are delicious and different.
Recipes can be found on-line.

I like pineapple candy more than I like the actual fruit. I love pineapple gummy bears. They hit the spot for me. The fruit is too tangy for me.

Suddenly, Pineapples. *rains pineapples everywhere*

But the goofy shenanigans aside. Pineapples were something I have always liked on some level. More so in recent years. Especially when smoked with ham. And I did try pineapple on pizza recently too, after hearing so much about it. It's not bad. Nothing I'd have all the time of course, but maybe a once-in-a-while treat. Then again citrus is something I've always had a love for. I mean, you'd not catch me dead without OJ in the fridge. Seriously.

I can't stand pineapple, the worst of the 'regular' fruits. (Obviously I'd imagine stuff like durian would be worse than pineapples but you can't exactly go and buy durian at any supermarket in the West, y'know).

Durian is regularly sold at the local Kroger grocery store where I shop. It's also sold at the local Asian food store. I've never eaten it but I'd be willing to taste it.

Putting pineapple on pizza was invented by a Canadian. I love to eat it grilled. Even canned pineapple rings taste good if you sprinkle some sugar on them and grill them. It seems to take away that metal can taste.

There are No Durian signs on public transport and some buildings in Malaysia and Thailand. I liken the experience to eating peaches and cream in an outhouse.

I checked it out. Mangosteen!!! A very delicious fruit. I first tasted it at Taman Negara a National Park in Malaysia. Even better, there, was to go to the dock and get the attention of a boatman on the other side of the river. He will come over and take you to have dinner on a boat, usually run by a family. My spouse and I had several nice dishes, ate well, and the cost, about $9.00.
