Post something Weird or Random

Weird weather. Adelaide hasn't had a proper summer for 4 years now. Today is going to be our first day over 40 degrees in 4 years. Hooray I think, maybe summer has finally come. But no, we only get one day and then it's back to early spring weather again.

The west of the country is having heatwaves and bushfires, the east of the country is having heatwaves and flooding, the north is getting cyclones. Here it's just cold.

I don't think I've ever felt +40C. Here, if we don't get a couple of nights at -40C, the Moose retain parasites in their fur and look really bad by spring. It hasn't happened this year. I extended my bike riding season by six weeks, and will probably start three weeks early. This much heat wave would be dangerous added to a normal summer.

In a typical Adelaide summer most day time highs would be in the low to high 30s with at least 3 or 4 days getting over 40, night time temperatures between 15 and 20 with low humidity. Our winter night time low temperatures rarely drop below 8 or 10 degrees.

When I first came back to Adelaide at the end of 2019 we had a normal summer, but we haven't had one since. Record antarctic icemelt is cooling the southern oceans and we've been getting a cold blast from down south for 3 years now. Our winter doesn't seem any colder but the summer certainly is and it's been a lot more humid too.

[Edit] and as a side note, the Queensland central coast is about to get a whole heap more water they really don't need, they're still recovering from last month's cyclone.

I was reading an article in a newspaper now and at the bottom of it I noticed this sentence:

"An AI tool was used to add an extra layer to the editing process for this story"

Extra layer..? Weird. I have never seen this before in a newspaper. This is how it begins, today it's just an innocent extra AI layer and tomorrow we all live in caves, hiding from the killer AI robots. :)
