The recommended therapy for schizophrenia is radically different than that for autism. That is what makes the distinction so important.

I agree.

There are many types of neurolodevelopmental conditions....that something is (or might be) neurodevelopmental doesn't say anything about what it might and might not share with autism in terms of symptoms/difficulties, cause, or what kinds of supportive interventions might be appropriate when a person has that condition versus autism. (Note that I don't think being locked up in a hospital and forcibly drugged every day is an appropriate intervention for anyone.....)
