Royal Wedding - Livestream

I support the royal family and wish Harry and Megan all the best but find the hype around this wedding was way to much.

Tourism and public relations benefits can't hurt Britain. Constitutional monarchies and all their pageantry still fascinate people I suppose. As if they were a "forbidden fruit" of sorts. Lifestyles of the rich and famous. - Tabloid fodder sans Robin Leach.

"The Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is driving 33 per cent more visitors to London over the weekend of 19 May 2018, than last year - as well as some other unlikely British towns.

With the wedding of the year expected to boost the UK economy by £500 million, research shows that the UK tourism is already reaping the benefits of these royal nuptials - including some unlikely British towns.

Online travel agency, Opodo, has reported a 33 per cent increase in travellers flying to London across the weekend of the royal wedding, compared to the same dates last year.

The main influx is from Germany, followed by tourists from Spain, France, Italy and Portugal."

It's an historic occasion of sorts. So I watched 5 minutes of highlights.

As for the royal family and all the royal stuff, I would imagine it generates a lot of tourism which I imagine is good for the economy.

Just because most North Americans and Canadians don't care, doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed on an INTERNATIONAL forum.

Of course. It's just tiring to see it for a week before on every TV news channel, hear about it almost all the time, then see coworkers watching the thing during their work time and then come to the quiet of AC and see it once again.

Wasn't the music great? I think I heard some Vaughan Williams and Elgar just before the arrival of the bride. Shame that the subtitles got Sheku Kanneh-Mason's selection of pieces wrong. According to the BBC the first piece he played was Sicilienne attributed to Maria Theresia von Paradis, not Après un rêve by Gabriel Fauré (although he did play that next). Forumites may be interested to know that Sheku was the subject of a BBC documentary when he first came to fame two years ago, "Young, Gifted and Classical" - worth seeking out on YouTube. Did you know he's one of seven musically talented siblings, all of whom have Grade VIII on at least one instrument (apart from the youngest, but give her time to catch up!)?

Incidentally, am I the only one who thought Meghan's wedding dress was like Mette-Marit's? Probably (this side of the North Sea at any rate).

Don't read or post on the topic about it then, simple.
