I am not in school. I just do it at home. Lately I haven't been able to make myself do anything though. Hence the title "silent musician".

I would really like to start composing more original work. I listen to quite a variety of styles, and would likely integrate them into a kind of musical chimera. Some of my favorite artists are Malice Mizer, Ali Project, and Emily Autumn. Listen to them an you might have a vague idea of what I am going for.
I will. Sounds good. I haven't written in a while. Just having trouble mustering up enough enthusiasm for it. Maybe I should have called myself "blank slate" or something instead.

Welcome to the forum IamMoody. To me, being a nerd or geek doesnt really matter. Am I a nerd or a geek? I do not know but if you consider people nerds or geeks when they repeat Ice Age quotes from time to time like Sid going "Excuse me, but whos flying this thing???" then yes, I can be considered a nerd or a geek.

What do the words "nerd" and "geek" mean anymore anyway. When I was a kid those labels were applied to me because I was introverted and weird and could name all of the dinosaurs but didn't know how baseball worked. Now those words have become trendy and anybody who likes a video game or reads fantasy novels is a geek. While those were traditionally geeky activities they have become much more mainstream and acceptable past times over the past couple of decades. Being a nerd or geek used to be an outsider label. Now it has become something of an elitist insider's club where you have to prove your "cred" by knowing so many quotes from show x, or being really good at video game y, and if you are socially awkward then you are "giving nerds a bad name."

Welcome aboard :) hope you enjoy the community.

Rocco, good to see you here. You were very helpful explaining thing on this site and one of the first to welcome me, Vinca and Datura as well. I will extend a hand out also, but am such a newbie that I'm keeping the welcomes simple as I think about my next rant.
