Greetings, I'm another alien here. A person with high-functioning autism.

I decided to register here to share my stories and to contact to another people with Asperger's or other forms of autism.

I was born in Zhitomir, a town in Ukraine. As a kid I was just like a classical autist which could neither speak nor understand a word. Furthermore, Ukrainian doctors weren't informated much about autism. Thus, everyone of them told I was an imbecile. Just only one doctor said that I have autism but she also said I might become a classical autist.

When I went to specialised school for kids who need special help with learning (such as kids with dyslexia or hyperactivity) I began to show my possibilities. I was practically the best one in drawing arts and creating clay figures. While being first week in school I already learned the whole alphabet and how to write.

After becoming 10 years old, I moved to Germany. I got colossal personality changes. I had huge difficulties with learning German and socialization as well. Nevertheless, I got interested in English language and as you see I know it good enough to communicate with English-speaking people.

Of course, it's important to mention my special interest. It's drawing pictures. But I'm more interested in animation, comics and cinematography.

I think, that's all what I wanted to tell here. If you have any other questions, go on.

I loved working with clay as a kid. I used to make vast armies of hundreds of clay figures armed with toothpicks and wearing tin foil helmets and shields. My parents would wake and have their coffee among vast scenes of plasticine carnage on the dining room table. :D

I always messed around with it as a hobby till this day, although now its Sculpey III and the figures are historical or from fantasy like Tolkien. I made some animation figures for my daughter sometimes of her favorite characters.

Welcome to Aspie Central. We’re glad you choose to join the forum. We look forward to getting to know and understand you. We also look forward to learning from your stories and experiences. Thank you in advance. I’m wondering if you HFA is formally diagnosed?

I learnt to read and write way beyond my "age appropriate level" too when I was younger, even though I talked and interacted very little. Stupid how people assume so much based on lack of speech >.<

Belated welcome!
HFA and like to draw, I believe you can find a lot of people who are just like you in here.:D
