I gave up chasing ghosts a long time ago. Me and the paranormal have settled into mutual avoidance.
But right now we are at an elderly friends house, while she is in a care home, making repairs, clearing the junk, that sort of thing.
This dear lady has has 3 husbands who all preceeded her in death.

Anyway, there is a certain light fixture above the bar between the kitchen and living room. When we arrived the lightbulb in this fixture was burnt out so we replaced the bulb. We could not find a switch for this light, so despite the new bulb, it remained dark. It was that way all day yesterday and was very clearly off when I went to bed about midnight.

But this morning at 4 am the light came on all by its self.

The house is old and I am pretty sure the issue is electrical. But it is still a little spooky!

Update! My husband, who usually sleeps through the night, happened to get up in the wee hours and screwed in the light bulb. He thought it might make a good night light. :D

mm my porch light puzzled me like that, replaced the bulb and nothing, but later figured out it was movement sensored, so all you have to do is wave at it and it comes on.

My aunt had dementia. Her husband had passed several years before her. One day the carer comes into her room and sees her acting very coherently and getting all dressed up. The carer joked and asked if she was off anywhere nice.

My aunt said she was off to meet her husband, and asked if the carer would look after her cat.

She died that evening.

Quantum lightbulb.
Spooky action at a distance :)

Have you ever noticed that flies seem to appear out of nowhere?
We think the flies have a quantum gate and originate in another dimension.
While the life cycle of a fky is known, this does not disprove the hypothesis. :p

Places that look pretty much exactly like that are frequent in horror games. I doubt I have to explain why.

That's just facing one way though. If facing the other direction, it looks mostly the same but there's this... gate. A low wooden gate, with a lock. Nobody has been able to figure out what in the world it is for. Anyone could just step over it... what in the funky heck was it meant to do? It aint the only mystery of this... uh... "room", if you can even call it that. I call it the "horror hall".

And yes, I took the photo myself. This place is on the other side of the wall I'm currently facing as I type this.

Whole house is really freaking strange. We only just moved here. I love the place but some aspects are a little... disconcerting.

I'm already in the habit of never entering that room without my phone. This seems irrational and silly, but if I've learned anything, it's to never assume anything... the world is one weird place.

Also if the power ever goes out while I'm in there I'll have a total freakout. And I do have to go in there, all of my hobby stuff is in there... feh.

EDIT: That gate, it was closed earlier when I went in there. Others state that they did not close it, and I sure as bloody heck wouldnt. Gotta say, dont like that. Really doesnt need to get freakier in there.

@Misery,
Maybe you could desensatize yourself to the room? When I was a kid I was freaked out by jack in the boxes. My babysitter had one, so one day I just sat down and opened it over and over again until the jack springing out no longer scared me.
Maybe you could try walking in the room without lights on, over and over until it just feels normal to do so?

Spookiest story I heard about a house a couple had moved into was that whenever they would come home, all of the kitchen cabinets would be open. You're welcome. :p They left after 6 months.

I had a friend in grad school whose father used to see ghosts in the house, but wouldn't tell the daughters because he didn't want to scare them. Then the woman I knew used to see something that didn't look human in the house, "smiling" at her. If she left her door ajar, she would wake up to find him staring at her from the foot of her bed. Her sister wouldn't believe her, until one night she walked by the living room, and this weird 8 foot tall thing was standing with its back to her, staring at the TV screen, which was off but had odd looking "snow" going on.

Then I had another friend who used to have someone touch her feet every night as she tried to fall asleep. Then she once saw him - it was so weird - it was an old man standing in the room, but his shins were below the floor. Theory was that back when he was around, the floor was lower down.

I have too many weird stories of my own and of my family to share...well, I could, but I don't know if I want to focus on all of that - and I figured most people on this forum wouldn't believe in that kind of thing. In any case, I wish I could be one of those people who never have anything happen and therefore can scoff at everyone else's stories.:D

That hall has strange energy. Maybe it's on top of a burial ground of some sort. Maybe a vortex. There were cool energy vortex places in Sedona. Vortex has energy feeling but may scare people.

Hawaii has a lot of sacred sites, but sometimes that means something worse like cannibalism which nobody wants to declare in the revenue generating Aloha state.

Sometimes history is something better left buried.

Sometimes strange stories about houses are nothing more neighborhood kids coming in and messing with things. This is actually more common than people realize. Nothing more than pranksters.

I've had "spooky" experiences.

With 11 dimensions theorized in this universe alone and talk of multiverses, They could be hiding anywhere.

Why not?

Replace the fixture itself and see if the bulb consistently works as it should.

I've done paranormal investigations as well, but I still default to attempting to debunk the obvious first and foremost prior to considering "other" possibilities.

I have dealt with kid mischief mostly in my lifetime.

But my ex can't explain my timing on things and dates. Lol.

Me too :) See my update above

In anthropology of nutrition, we studied cannibalism. Cannibalism is the belief you are what you eat, and it tends to serve up only the finest examples of character traits one would like to embody, literally. In other words, if someone wants to eat you - it's at least a huge compliment ;)

This honorific is on full display at any catholic communion. They consume it in the belief the bread has been transmogrified into Christ's flesh and the wine His blood. Of course, it's always far worse when someone else does it. i.e. Cannibal catholics hating on the beliefs of cannibal Hawaiians

We are surrounded by idiots...
