Spooky

Guess this is better then spontaneous combustion that has been recorded happening to people. Usually smokers though.

I remember being at Bishop museum /Honolulu and looking at ancient smaller very strange tools in museum display and having a distinct very strong bad feeling about them. They had no explanation what they were used for. But l knew. Later they were removed never to appear again.

"Psychometry"

I watched a psychic I know personally physically touch a number of personal items from the Firehouse Museum in Virginia City Nevada and proceed to tell us all kinds of details about the firemen who once owned them.

I also recall an experience closer to yours in visiting Buckland Station in Nevada and being drawn to room upstairs. The same psychic who was with our group told us of how a very sick child lived in that room and eventually died there. Sad and spooky. I have no idea what drew me to this room, though I even took a photo of the door when I had not even gone upstairs yet to investigate.

Still more inclined to believe natural explanation. Given how many unknowns there are to Earth's operating system. Not to mention the various energies and unseen matter working around us.

Not a huge believer in ghosts. Have done my research for many years. Doesn't line up. Aside from what the Bible says. Personal experiences with that.

My family comes from Clan Burnett, in Scotland. Crathes Castle (my ancestral home) has a very spooky story that we descendants tell to our children.

The Laird had an affair with one of the maids and she ended up getting pregnant. The Lady of the castle was so jealous that in a fit of rage, she stabbed and strangled her to death, and then hid her body somewhere in that room.

Since then, wailing could be heard coming from that room. They now call it the "Green Lady's Room". And people have seen a ghastly apparition of a woman pacing in a green dress, cradling a baby. Even Queen Victoria saw her when she visited Crathes Castle!

Is it just peat bog gas and wind down the chimney, or is she, as family legend states, a messenger of doom and bad luck about to befall us?

The room is now called "The Green Lady's Room". When contractors were doing renovations on that part of the house, they found a skeleton and shreds of faded green fabric underneath the hearth stone.

Spontaneous combustion is real. A stack of old shop rags covered in oil can spontaneously combust.
When I was 14, I was babysitting a couple of kids who lived next to a horse farm. The farm had stacked hay bales on the fence line about 20 feet from the familys kitchen and front door.
Those hay bales spontaneously combusted with me and the kids inside the house. By the time I hustled the kids out the back door the house was on fire.
I actually went back into the house to call the fire department because the neighbors house was too far away. Luckily the phone was still working. That was scary!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm glad you were okay!

and I figured most people on this forum wouldn't believe in that kind of thing.

You might be surprised.

As you hang out on the forum more, you'll likely spot that there's definitely a few of us that have had unusual experiences, so to speak, myself included.

Though I can understand any reluctance to discuss it.

A line I've heard is "nobody believes in the paranormal until it happens to them", which I rather think is quite accurate at this point.

That hall has strange energy.

It's got a strange something, alright. Wish I knew quite what it was, but it's indeed strange.

I have too many weird stories of my own and of my family to share...well, I could, but I don't know if I want to focus on all of that - and I figured most people on this forum wouldn't believe in that kind of thing. In any case, I wish I could be one of those people who never have anything happen and therefore can scoff at everyone else's stories.:D

A few of us in the community can relate. Those of us who never had the luxury to "believe" in such things, but rather were simply "eye witnesses" to unsolicited paranormal events we cannot so easily dismiss- or share.

I do sometimes wonder, "why us?" I kept my most profound experiences to myself for twenty years. It was the advent of the Internet that allowed me to realize that I wasn't alone.

Energies are weird and can happen as gut feelings, or come in dreams, and even as signs from nature.

The Hawaiians believe we have an animal spirit that is with us always as a guide perhaps if we chose to aknowledge.

Energies are weird.

The question in my mind is, what does one do with this energy?

Well, I can think of some things, believed by some, disbelieved by others, and whatnot, but I'm kinda curious as to what some of you think.

Regardless of whatever form "energy" takes, as your own knowledge goes.

Same here.

Well, even with the internet... tended to keep to myself.

Though, eventually there's a sort of tipping point, where stuff is getting a tad too weird and it's time to seek assistance to learn about it... I tend to find that to be the tough part. Particularly when dealing with weird subjects like all this stuff.

@Misery Everything is energy and everything is conscious.
It just vibrates in different levels.
Think of what we call physical vs all the energy waves in the air around us from cell phone towers
to satellites and the natural energies coming in from the sun and cosmos.
Just cause you don't see it, don't mean it ain't there.

What to do with the energies depends on how your natural abilities allow you to.
Some are naturally sensitive to the energy and pick up on it as a knowing or feeling/sensation.
Like your hall. Ever go through the strange little gate?
It might take you somewhere. Wouldn't that be funny?
Like in dreams, the astral gate plane.
Reiki is an example of what universal energy can be used for. It is now excepted and used
not only on people, but, as therapeutic to animals.

We really don't know anything about all the things that exist in space, dimensions, and multi-verses.
But, there has been a lot of discovery in just a short period of time science is finding which we
didn't know. Seems something new everyday.
There really isn't a true "time", and now they are all excited about "time crystals".
Yeah, the stuff of my special interests-science/physics.
I see it all as natural. Not super-natural or un-natural.

I found this post interesting:
Cannibalism is the belief you are what you eat, and it tends to serve up only the finest examples of character traits one would like to embody, literally. In other words, if someone wants to eat you - it's at least a huge compliment ;)

This honorific is on full display at any catholic communion. They consume it in the belief the bread has been transmogrified into Christ's flesh and the wine His blood

This is what the cannibals believed. They didn't realize eating other humans leads to bovine spongiform.
That's why there are hardly any cannibals left today.

The religious act of the communion that was mentioned, is not a physical transformation to
human flesh and blood and therefore is harmless. It is the belief in infusing a higher energy
into the wafer and consuming the energy.
This higher energy has been proven by taking petri dishes of diseases and putting one group
who believed in channeling universal energy into the germs and a second group who prayed over
the diseases. The out come was the same. It primarily worked for both.

Kirlian photography proves the energy of ALL things extends beyond an object.
Some can see this with their eyes or feel it with the hands. Thus it isn't just imagined.
I try to intigrate the scientific ways of proving into the paranormal to prove or debunk.
But, keep an open mind since we are limited in knowledge.
I've had too many experiences to mention. But, a lot of people here seem to have had
unusual experiences and are interested.

I go with what my faith tradition teaches as well - which on the one hand is probably quite popular, on the other hand unpopular - on the one hand, most phenomenon actually have natural explanations or are a figment of the imagination, or from a psychological/neurological issue. On the other the hand, the rest is mostly demonic activity, sometimes masquerading as ghosts of people who have passed on.

I once visited Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana, which is said to be haunted. I took a bunch of pictures with my camera - this was way before digital cameras. The photos were not blurry or anything - they simply just never showed up among my developed photos - the exterior of Myrtles was there, but not the interior. I don't normally go hunting around for that kind of stuff, I was just touring the plantations in Louisiana to learn more about the history.

Another story about New Orleans - when I lived there, my roommates and I were always walking around outside - didn't matter how many dangerous situations arose, we would still do this. One friend had a gun pulled on her. My other friend and I were followed and flashed. I was nearly abducted. And yet, we would still walk around at night. One night after studying, near midnight, we decided to skip the shuttle and walk home. We figured we'd likely be okay in a group. Nobody was ever out on that route at night. If there ever was anyone out, they weren't young Caucasian women.

So we are walking along a street with one of those decrepit old graveyards, and as was my habit, I was looking at the crooked old gravestones, to the left, when my friends suddenly gasped. I turned to see what they were looking at - it was a young white woman whose back was turned from us, and her neck looked broken, her head was at such an unnatural angle. We immediately started asking if she was okay - no response, no movement. So we kept slowly walking by, with our eyes glued on her. Due to my classic Aspie tunnel vision, that's when I finally took in the whole scene - she was high up above us, perched on a penny farthing. Now her neck didn't look broken, her head was bent over a book - but it was near midnight, the faint glow of the street light would be difficult if not impossible to read by. And she still wouldn't move, until we were almost past, craning our necks to keep staring at her, when she slowly turned her head our way, squinting at us. I thought she was squinting at us as though she were seeing us as a strange vision, like we were the weird phenomenon? But my friend said she was glaring at us.

We didn't know what to make of it - just a weirdo? But the circumstance was so strange, and for all the times we had walked that street, day or night, we never saw that person or that penny farthing anywhere. And we never did again. Maybe it was some strange woman deciding to do that and then she hid her penny farthing back inside her house or back yard, where we couldn't spot it (we tried looking for it when we went back out in the morning), or maybe someone was playing a hoax - except it's not a popular place to walk, we were the only ones who walked there occasionally at night. All I know is - we never walked home at night again, we always waited for that shuttle! Maybe that saved us a worse fate on a different night, who knows?

I know you said that you put your hobby supplies in there? Maybe you could just redecorate that space to look like Harry Potter's under the stairs room? Yes, weird and small, but oddly cozy - fill it with a bunch of friendly things, like books? Turn it into a mini library? Put some wallpaper up? Spaces really affect me - I wouldn't rest until I changed that little space. :)

I grew up hearing these kinds of stories in my family - and some believed, others laughed or didn't care. That culture is more ancient, and there are just far more happenings? It is interesting to hear that you felt alone in all of this until the internet. Also...interesting that you are brave enough to go investigating it! I want nothing to do with it - gives me goosebumps, gives me anxiety if it gets on my mind. I think this might be cultural, too! No one in my family seeks out these things, we try to get away. And yet, of course, it's all fascinating - it's like living with a lion outside the door. I would rather just focus on my life, but...it's hard to not think about the lion at the door when you once in a while hear a scratch.

The question in my mind is, what does one do with this energy?

When I look at that space - well, this won't help people outside of my faith tradition, but the first thing we would do for any house, strange energy or not, is have a priest bless the house. If any strange paranormal phenomena came about, we would have an exorcism, or more commonly, just use prayer and holy water. I do know of stories where this has helped.

But if it's just a "strange energy" rather than actual paranormal activity....I would be inclined to believe it has more to do with the lighting, the structural appearance, and possible temperature issues, that would give me a weird sense about it..but I am not in there, so what would I know. I would definitely try to add brighter lighting, change the colors, make it look like a cozy or serene, complete, and useful space that I would want to use.

As for a place with just a creepy feeling overall that I have experienced....there was another house that my husband were looking at in the neighborhood that had lots of character - beautiful and old. It had only had 2 sets of owners over the past 80 years. The last couple were kind of a tour de force - well loved, known and respected in their community, throwing lots of parties, enjoying life - all very positive things, right?

But the thing is....we would have felt like respectful caretakers of the home rather than feeling like it was ours. We just aren't that fabulous, the house looked kind of grand, and none of our stuff would have looked that great in there, and we aren't hosting parties and being socialites. But beyond that - it was like that older couples "energy", like the leftovers of their lifestyle, was still present - and might not ever leave. Plus, if I were there alone, at any time, but especially at night, I would have been really creeped out. Not to mention the basement looked liked something out of Silence of the Lambs, I would not have enjoyed going down there for laundry.

There were other practical issues due to the age of the house and the amount they were asking - but....it was also an energy that I both respected and yet did not want to take on, we would never feel at home. Our realtor actually said in the middle of the tour that the house gave her the creeps, she said she felt it was too cold in one random part of the house, she thought it was haunted - which was an odd thing for a realtor to say.

I made the mistake of reading up on the old couple that lived there until they died. Very outstanding couple. And a tragic story of how one of their boys was a pilot who was shot down in Vietnam, and his body was never reclaimed. The woman never gave up hope that she would one day learn what happened to her son, and she spent her life with some type of related organization. And yet.....that got my imagination going, and I'm sure I would get that stupid idea in my head that I would one day see an apparition of her dear son in full uniform walking through that house.;)
