Stereotypical "Autistic interests" you don't have.

Big bang show is childish humour juvenile does does not represent our community sort of shows many stereotypes of us are wrong. comics give me a break left those behind, once my brain developed as an adult.

What are some "stereotypically autistic" interests you absolutely do not share with the rest of the "autism community?"

--never owned a gaming console, nothing against gaming but personally never was interested.
--The My Little Pony franchise creeps me out, even without the fandom, which also creeps me out.
--for whatever reason anime doesn't do anything for me either.
--never was a darn bit of good with a computer, though I enjoy doing shady stuff with them
--believe it or not, I've never played Minecraft.

Stereotypical interests I do have include trains, nature, animals, things that spin, machinery, that sort of stuff--it's just that some "stereotypical interests" that have a large neurodivergent fanbase don't "click" with me. Your experiences?
I love my little pony to death especially the 80s version and anime.
I do not know, I have so many passions and interests, most autistic things interest me a little.

I consider myself an extrovert and enjoy being social. But I don’t like small talks, I like to get down in business and talk about heavy stuff. I realise people are my special interest. Still have social anxiety though!

I was the same at your age, very successful in my career and my social life. Up until my big burn out I was a very busy and very happy man. I'm probably older than your parents now and I wonder how much of my social reluctance is because of autism (asd2) and how much is simply grumpy old man syndrome. As the old saying goes:

"You'll be there yourself one day - if you're lucky." :)

And also don't forget another old phrase - "The older I get the better I was." :)

On autism sites I can't really talk about my interests (I don't have special interests, just casual interests) because my interests seem so uncommon in the autism community. I find it boring when all I see is anime, Star Wars/Trek, and trains.

I liked Thomas The Tank but I wasn't obsessed with trains or anything. I knew nothing about trains, I just liked watching the show, but most children do (hence why it's so popular, even today).

I've never had stereotypical autistic interests. My interests entail things like shopping, gossip, rats, drama and writing.

- I'm not into trains.
- I don't care for Star Trek.
- I think weighted blankets are dumb and even dangerous because they can crush children to death.
- I think most fidget toys are dumb, although I do have a few dolls that have been crossed with fidget toys.
- I hate math and I think I may have dyscalculia. And hyperlexia.
- I like Sonic but the fandom is REPULSIVE. Except for the few indie fan games that are actually pretty cool.
- Same for My Little Pony. But I'm more into Gen 1 since I grew up with the Gen 1 ponies.
- I am into sciency stuff, but it's mostly stuff that revolves around tiny living creatures and the way they survive in a big ecosystem, like insects. And Sea Monkeys.
- When I do watch anime, it's usually more obscure and humorous or sitcom-style instead of the magical girl or martial arts types. Yesterday I found full episodes of anime of Parappa the Rapper with English subtitles on YouTube, and since I really enjoyed the game on Playstation in the 90s I watched some episodes. Weird thing is that Parappa doesn't really rap until the final episode in the series. Although he does so in the most adorable Engrish ever.:grinning:

I am very similar to you two girls. I grew out of Star Trek/Wars when I was about 14. I never had an interest in trains, anime, or dolls. I'm more verbal than most people autistic or NT.

I did inherit the massive memory and maths and logic functions though.

Major interest - yes it really is only one topic - anthropology, sociology, psychiatry, political theory and law.
