Stimming

I didn't know that you were supposed to use stimming to relieve anxiety? Maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years! :shiftyninja:

Seriously though, I think of it as a bit like doodling. I doodle compulsively, weird progressive patterns mostly.

I flap and rock when I'm at home. I also sometimes headbang or punch my self in the face but I think that's 'cause of something else. IDK though.
I don't flap or rock that much. I only flap when I'm watching BONES or House or a really good movie but I rock when I can be bothered xD.

I rock my head and sometimes hand flap when I'm SOOOO overexcited.
When listening to music, that's when I start to nod my head, people would think, wtf is this guy doing?

Well its just me stimming, I usually cover it saying "Dancing like a wannabe" or something like that and they be like "oh  "
Saves me from getting questioned.

I stim for pleasure and out of habit and not a day passes when I don't do atleast one stim. But they don't include rocking usually.

@142857: I'm also a compulsive doodler. I have to doodle whenever I have a pen. I can't stop once I've started. It's almost a neccessity to scribble and draw, and it's always lots of the same thing.
Maybe that counts as a stim too? It sure feels like one.

Any excuse to make a video Emor.

Go for it!
Indeed :D. BTW on the Irish accent one, I've been practicing for the past few weeks and the ONLY persuasive one I can do is one where I'm in utter disgust. Should I just do that? LOL.
@Monkey: Awesome :P. Link? I'll do a video response to that too.
These all when I get the time an no one's in (Y).

@emor: I'll send the link to mine when it's done but it says "publishing: 54% complete" so I've got a while to go yet.

I guess stimming does help relieve some anxiety for me. I don't usually "use" stimming for anything, it's more of a response that I can either allow or suppress. I rock when I'm slightly anxious, and that sometimes helps me to re-regulate my emotions. When I'm extremely anxious, I tend to head bang (It's more of a tap than a bang, or somewhere between the two, it's not usually that hard, though) or scratch my arms and tummy. It does help me calm down, but I never thought about "using" it. Maybe I should try rocking more when I feel like head-banging or scratching. *shrug*

I also stim when I'm very excited, and that's where I do a lot of hand flapping, jumping, and sometimes vocal squeaking. Again, it's more of a "response" than something I "use".

I tap my hands and feet constantly. If I'm really excited then I bounce and flap although I have to suppress this if I am around others. When I had the room to do so, I would spin on my computer chair if I was thinking.

Yeah, just do that. C'mon it's easy to mimic another accent. Me and my friends use to do it all the time, whether it was an English, Italian or even Indian accent.

Bounce? You must have been really excited! I used to spin on the computer chair but I think it was just for fun or out of boredom.

Oh and send me the links to those videos when they're uploaded people, thanks.

I actually seriously have problems keeping my tone of voice and changing it and stuff xD. I'll try though :P.
