I just see dreams in the context of two considerations:
1. That they are what they are- just sleep-induced dreams.
2. That they may be a catalyst for something else in a place not fully understood lying in between a conscious and unconscious state.
For myself, having a brief but distinct out-of-the-body experience was disturbing to say the least. Having momentarily fallen asleep on the sofa in the middle of the day, only to have woken up seeing myself on the sofa at the same time.
Astral Projection- something I've experienced at least twice now over the years. Makes me wonder if the death experience is akin to this in whole or in part?
