Stupidity Sells

I like watching other people be stupid because i like to see what happens when people do not recive an education. If they knew the basic laws of physics they would probably not jump off of a building on to another building and land on their face.

I've seen people with some of the best formal educations on the planet make some incredibly stupid decisions. ;)

Any MP in any government!.. Except Arnold Schwartzenegger, being one of the first to legalise cannabis

Yep. Politicians were precisely what I was thinking of- first and foremost. :D

I guess I should point out though that the Governator while having a very liberal view on pot altogether didn't legalize it in California. However he did sign into law its decriminalization from a misdemeanor to a minor legal infraction. Presently only three states have outright legalized pot so far. Washington, Colorado and Oregon.

I am completely clueless of how he left office, but I do know somebody else is the governor now. I am hoping that when Arnold Schwartzenegger signed off, he said "I'll be back", whether or not he meant it. :D

Fair point Judge, though my understanding, from the distant UK, is that its presence and use is totally disregarded.. the law may be as it is, but is not enforced.. in fact, the situation in the UK is such that the law itself tends to ignore possession of less than dealable amounts (currently and unofficially about an ounce and a half is considered personal use).. though that does come down to the individual coppers' opinion.
Asheskyler, you said it for me :D "I'll be bashed".. ok, it's 3am, gimme a break :p

Things are slowly getting better, but laws are still not evenly applied let alone totally disregarded. But I see a definite trend towards legalization in many other states. Just not sure how long it will take. IMO the federal government lost the "war on drugs" years ago, and it's only now slowly catching up with them.

I am trying to figure out if we are in an age that stupidity is part of the norm for most entertainment? If I look at many popular videos on YouTube, it is people doing stupid things that get millions of views or more. Most of this stuff doesn't interest me. I wonder why it does for others? Maybe part of it is for the laughter? But at the end of the day, I might be one of those few people that are hard to impress.

I have a really difficult time justifying these kinds of ideas, that society or some aspect of it is being dumbed down, when so much GREAT stuff is out there as well. Hard to find, granted, but great nonetheless.

No, I think what's popular in entertainment nowadays has no bearing on the intelligence of society, just different things amuse certain people, and now is the time of simple jokes. I, for one, enjoy bad puns, because something about how bad they are is indescribably hilarious. Call it, maybe, humor nostalgia. A lot of these things would have been genuinely comedic in a simpler time, maybe subconsciously, I'd like to be entertained so easily. Or maybe it's just a response to how tough things can be, that some people need to find humor in the smallest thing?

Regardless, I wouldn't call it stupid. Simple is a better term.

Would you say.. looking for humour in an increasingly desperate world?
A common theme, perhaps, looking back through the decades.. Our parents and Grandparents found humour in things we thought were 'simple', through sheer desperation to find something to laugh about.
I know people who re-enact 40's and 50's styles because they identified with the 'this is the line' type attitude of the time?
Human nature, to adapt, laugh.. and LIVE..
