The coolest thing you've bought recently

the coolest thing I bought for myself recently:)

I found an awesome fancy-and-classy rain coat at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago. I have a thing for fancy coats and hats--I'm always looking for something to go with my fancy-and-classy felt topper. I really want a pea coat, but that's out of my price range right now.

@ Arashi: OOOOH! She's stunning & all in pink & white! I bet she was worth every second of the wait!

Thanks I hope to bring home her winter staff soon but its at my friends as I didn't want to break it by bringing it home with out her box. I am looking forward to getting Nathaniel his body soon but wig and eyes first.

I bought an IPAD4 for my son's birthday present. $699

I bought the new ipad a few months back when I got some of my ex husbands tax check. For me for a change. Money usualy goes to something for my kids.
I bout the ipad a case and a pack of screen protectors and ended checking out @over $900

I doubt it counts as cool to anyone else, but I just ordered an Audio-Technica A95E cartridge (US$40) and a Pro-Ject Audio MM phono amp (US$99) for my turntable. Analog on the cheap!

analog is nice! nothing nicer than a vinyl record :) sounds better than a CD.

It would probably have to be this really fun blue tank top with music note symbols drawn in the correct direction. Most designers for "music trends" that I have come across lately still draw them backwards....

It is nice! It's been a little more complicated the last decade or two since most pressings these days are cut from digital masters, one of the reasons people are always looking for pre-1980s pressings. Even then, though, I've noticed when I have the record on both CD and vinyl, the vinyl usually sounds much better. I have a stack of records I rescued from the abusive clutches of my parents, who were storing them in garages and attics for many years. I admit I have a bit of a phobia of vinyl; I'm always terrified I will ruin them somehow.

i know nothing of how t care for vinyl but im sure itll be fine. i know you'll take care of your records.
didnt know that about new vinyl though that sucks. how do you knwo if its pre 1980s?

An awesome all black (except for a small Canadian flag) back pack with an adaptation: you can stow the straps without removing them & use the spinner wheels & a retractable handle. It qualifies for carry-on luggage for airlines but can be used every day (leaving your hands free for in your hoodie kangaroo pocket) without making you feel like a dweeb with a suitcase who feels like you should be leaving town; not just going out somewhere.

A new boardgame... because I was lacking naval warfare boardgames, lol

It's for the inner pirate in me... Arrrrrrrrrr!

@ Geordie: That hoodie is awesome! I bet you look great in it & it looks really comfortable too. As for octopus balls, I've officially heard of everything!

Today I bought something I consider to be cool: I had several old silver amalgam (mercury!!!) dental fillings replaced with the invisible & much safer white ones. Next week, the dentist will replace the ones on the left side of my mouth. Half of my mouth, lips & tongue is still frozen solid making me look really weird. Thankfully, only the dogs are here to laugh at how funny I look!

Dentistry is amazing these days! Even when I think about the fillings and crowns they used on us not twenty years ago (yes, I was little).

I just ordered a record brush off of eBay, as all I had before was the felt cleaning brush. Yeah, I'm gettin' in to this analog thing.
