The Disney Remakes Problem - Is Disney Selling Out?

A discovery I found interesting was that people complained just as much about some of the original movies, too! Basically, people loved the first one made then never stopped complaining afterwards!

Maybe the best thing would have been to make the first a bit more complainable?

Yeah but when the original movies of stuff like Snow White came out in the late 30's, there was no Internet.

Oh, I just meant Star Wars. You saying this made me fully understand your previous post! I thought you were only talking about Star Wars, but I get it now!

Speaking of Disney remakes, they've got another Home Alone movie coming out in 2021 directly to Disney+.
This film - the sixth in the series - will be called Home Sweet Home Alone. Here's the storyline according to IMDB:

"Max Mercer, a mischievous and resourceful young boy who has been left behind while his family is in Japan for the holidays. So when a married couple attempting to retrieve a priceless heirloom sets their sights on the Mercer family's home, it is up to Max to protect it from the trespassers, and he will do whatever it takes to keep them out. The reboot promises hilarious hijinks of epic proportions, and despite the absolute chaos, Max eventually comes to realize that there really is no place like home sweet home."

Interestingly, Chris Columbus - the director of Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York - was asked about the film, to which he said some interesting stuff that I can agree with:

"Nobody got in touch with me about it, and it's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned. What's the point? I'm a firm believer that you don't remake films that have had the longevity of Home Alone. You're not going to create lightning in a bottle again. It's just not going to happen. So why do it? It's like doing a paint-by-numbers version of a Disney animated film - a live-action version of that. What's the point? It's been done. Do your own thing. Even if you fail miserably, at least you have come up with something original."
