She's sticking around till mid January apparently so I can take it slower. Which is a good thing as I had totally bottled asking her out. It was too awkward.

I understand why you are nervous. You are thinking "is she the one" life or death ideation. Stop it! Just think of her as a possible new friend, and, believe me, being friends before getting into a relationship is underrated.
