For sure it is beneficial to be able to contribute in a unique way at work. I'm trying to follow this route when looking for a job right now, to make sure I'm valued and that my abilities are recognised by future managers. I might not be the one to have the best self-marketing skills, but people who have already known me for a long time know that quality of my work is good.An old boss of mine, when I happened to be on the divisional management team, would turn to me after long discussion and ask for my input. He had learned, and commented on, that I would sit and take the whole discussion in, process it and reduce it, but generally not contribute until asked. (The whole “how to be part of the conversation” problem so many of us struggle with.) But he had learned the value of my “undiagnosed at that stage” autistic superpower. @vergil96, you may well have it too (hyperfocus + data reduction + logical analysis.) You just need to find people to value it.
Do you mean that there are not as many corporate jobs in tech in Austrialia? Tbh I thought corporate jobs in international companies look very similar across different countries due to the firms being international.Keep in mind that @AuAL is in Australia (IIRC) and other countries don't really have the same concept of lavish Big Tech jobs.
