Underrated animated movies

This probably sounds funny because everyone on here knows that my name is Luca, but there's a Pixar movie called "Luca" that came out last year that I thought was great, although I haven't heard a lot of people talk about it.
No, not because of my name :p It's a good movie. And the title character is male, and Italian. So definitely not me lol.
Luca is a pretty popular name nowadays.

Definitely not underrated, but I still need to watch Encanto.

It`s spelled slightly differently, but you remind me of Suzanne Vegas' big hit, Luka. :)

In the 80s there was a French series on tv here called Once Upon A Time. It was seven distinct series, focusing on different aspects of knowledge. That was pretty good, I watched all of it.

Once Upon a Time… Man
Once Upon a Time… Space
Once Upon a Time… Life
Once Upon a Time… The Americas
Once Upon a Time… The Discoverers
Once Upon a Time… The Explorers
Once Upon a Time… Planet Earth
Shame it wasn't in the UK would have been a change from David Attenborough's voice or a British actors voice, its available on YouTube(in some languages) can't discuss the episode on man as I won't be watching it or if the episodes are obviously for an atheist viewing audience

If you two like nature documentaries, National Geographic has a great series right now called "Wild."
"Wild Portugal," "Wild Yellowstone," "Wild Nordic," "Wild Hawaii," etc.
Beautiful cinematography and a great look into the lives of some really cool species.

I'm not sure which streaming services you have in your countries, but over here we get National Geographic with Disney Plus. I'm not the biggest Disney fan so I mostly subscribed for National Geographic and Pixar.

Oh, and narrated by people with a variety of accents and voices, not just David Attenborough! Although I love him too lol

Quite a few of Studio Ghibli's movies are underrated. One of them, Laputa Castle in the Sky, was one of the movie fragments stuck in my head. I didn't work out what it was for twenty five years until I fluked while channel surfing and saw the exact scene that was stuck in my head!

Another one from the same studio is Princess Mononoke which is a bit violent for some but a really good story.

I know it does! It caused an issue at the time.
I probably shouldn't be giggling about that. Lol
That was the first time I've heard of that movie though! It gave me a laugh.

To stay on topic, I enjoyed Warriors of the Wind and Spirited Away. But other than that I haven't seen a lot of Studio Ghibli movies (I think Warriors of the Wind was Studio Ghibli?)

I think we actually have every streaming service in the US and Europe. They just keep comming, I found out a while ago I have something called Paramount+ on my tv and I don't even know what it is. So much streaming everywhere.

Warriors of the Wind was a hacked up version of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It is considered a Ghibli even though it was made before the studio was founded. Spirited Away is another good one.

The channels in the UK on freeview (free to air with a box or installed inside a TV are endless )

I watched Luca a few days ago whilst sick and it was such a great movie. It is such a shame that it didn't gain much popularity. I feel the same with Onward too. Although I might be biased as Barley and I are pretty similar. I watched Encanto and I didn't really think much of it, but loved Raya and the Last Dragon. I feel like recently Disney/Pixar are hit and miss with their movies. Things that are popular, I find to be quite disappointing to some degree. Did watch Turning Red recently too, and I quite enjoyed it. Even if I couldn't fully relate to the social activities that the main character had, yeah, not bad.

Animal Farm scared me as a kid watching it for the 1st time in 10th grade. Especially the scene when the dogs execute the rebelling chickens and smear in blood a corollary to the 10 commandments as the chickens shriek in harrowing agony: "All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
I'm currently teaching Animal Farm and have shown this movie and currently showing the live action movie. It links quite nicely though with the Russian unit that I'm also teaching. :D I always thought that Boxer went somewhere nice, then realised that he was sent to die. That was horrible. Benjamin is the best character.

I really enjoy good stop motion animation. A great sequence comes from A Nightmare Before Christmas. This was made for Danny Elfman's music and stylings.

The Steam Driven Adventures of Riverboat Bill.

Old Australian animated film. Recorded it from TV on VHS. Not sure we have it anymore, and I've never found a means to buy or stream it online.

Reading up on that one it sounds incredibly like one of my fragment film memories but you're right, there is nowhere it is streamed nor is it available on video. Annoying!
