Vagus nerve stimulation

Has anyone tried vagus nerve stimulation? It’s electrodes on your neck that activate the vagus nerve, decreasing the stress response. I am curious if it could help with shutdowns/meltdowns.

Maybe that's why I spend so much of my free time sat cross legged on the floor rocking.

A couple of years ago I found the perfect height seated table to have my PC monitor on. So now I can enjoy my music and online chats at the perfect height whilst swaying. As I am doing as I write this.

There have been a few small studies looking at this that have demonstrated some positive results, and it seems plausible that it could be helpful. Autism is often associated with low vagal tone contributing to difficulties in emotional regulation and social engagement. In theory, by boosting the vagal tone, it reduces stress and may stabilize emotional responses - all relevant to these episodes.

Thank you! Just talked about it with my therapist and she said she has had some autistic clients that it has been helpful for. I think I am going to give it a try 🤞
