What are some of your favourite song lyrics?

Today's lyrics:

Pick me up
Been bleeding too long
Right here, right now
I'll stop it somehow

I will make it go away
Can't be here no more
Seems this is the only way
I will soon be gone
These feelings will be gone
These feelings will be gone

Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the sh*t I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?

Shut me off
I'm ready, heart stops
I stand alone
Can't be on my own

I will make it go away
Can't be here no more
Seems this is the only way
I will soon be gone
These feelings will be gone
These feelings will be gone

Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the sh*t I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?

Am I going to leave this place?
What is it I'm running from?
Is there nothing more to come?
Is there only black in space?
Am I going to take it's place?
Am I going to win this race?
I guess God's up in this place?
What is it that I've become?
Is there something more to come?
More to come

Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the sh*t I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?

"You can still be an Indian, just down at the "Y," on Saturday night."
- Buffy Sainte-Marie

A song I wrote

What can you do when life collapses in your chest
and you no longer want to be a part of the human race?
do you escape reality and find a way to intoxicate
or do you spend the whole day hiding in your bed?

'Cause I've been dealt the card of insecurity
and I'm getting tired of looking for a hole to fill
and in the evenings I only wallow in emptiness
and in the nights my thoughts
like to sing to me songs about
my death

What can you do when you're always scared of being betrayed
and you feel like nobody can give you a
****ing
break?
Do you fantasize about the
taste of cyanide
or do you just ignore it and go out for a walk?

'cause I've been dealt the card of inhumanity
and it gets so bad that sometimes it's just hard to exist
and in the evenings I only wallow in emptiness
and in the nights my thoughs
like to sing to me songs about, my
impeding death

Today:

I have a tale or two, to tell you
But the booze just makes me slow
Oh, I can wreck my brain remembering
But I guess maybe I'll just go

There's a method to my madness
There's a secret to this town
There's a reason why I'm still living here
Though I can't think of it right now

I made a promise when I left for the coast
20 long years ago
I made a life out of chasing a ghost
20 years takes its toll, ooh

I got along for a while I guess
But it took everything I had
I gotta find a way out of this mess
I'm in trouble and it sure looks bad, yeah

I have a thought or two to share with you
But thе dope tends to cloud my mind
I destroyed my health searching for myself
But there ain't nothing there to find
There a debt or two I owe you
But the gambling left me poor
I put up my name in the sacred game
And forgot what I was playing for

I made a promise when I left for the coast
20 long years ago
I made a life out of chasing a ghost
20 years takes its toll, ooh

I got along for a while I guess
But it took everything I had
I gotta find a way out of this mess
I'm in trouble and it sure looks bad, yeah

I gotta find a way out of this mess
I'm in trouble and it sure looks bad

I gotta find a way out of this mess
I went looking and it drove me mad

I gotta find a way out of this mess
I'm in trouble and it sure looks bad

I gotta find a way out of this mess
I ain't never seen you look so sad, yeah

Now this shallow dream caged in tinted glass
Spills out tears that I shed for the past

If it's not too late to turn back the clock
Could I find everything that I lost?

Oh, there's a river that winds on forever
I'm gonna see where it leads
Oh, there's a mountain that no man has mounted
I'm gonna stand on the peak
Out there's a land that time don't command
Wanna be the first to arrive
No time for ponderin' why I'm-a wanderin'
Not while we're both still alive

To the ends of the earth, would you follow me?
There's a world that was meant for our eyes to see
To the ends of the earth, would you follow me?
Well if you won't, I must say my goodbyes to thee

Englishman in New York - Sting

'I don't drink coffee, I take tea, my dear
I like my toast done on one side
And you can hear it in my accent when I talk
I'm an Englishman in New York'

'If "manners maketh man" as someone said
He's the hero of the day
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
Be yourself no matter what they say

Oh, I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York'

Always loved it, since childhood.

Numerous choices of lyrics from songs created from the 1960s to the mid-1980s comes to mind!

Many songs from when 'The Beatles' went solo stand-out. Many British artists (The British Invasion beyond 'The Beatles) often "strikes a chord!" I can mention the musical genres of "not too soft, yet not too hard " are a common thread.

From the 1960s through the mid-1980s, many non-British artists also provided those timeless lyrics.

The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home, and I
Guess I lost my way
There were oh-so-many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind...
...I found myself seeking shelter against the wind...

...Well those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out
Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind.

Against the wind- Bob Seger

I've played games, I've studied
I've worked, I've failed too
The map of my life has expanded
And there were many realities I didn't wish to know

Don't let go of the excitement of those days

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd

Phish - David Bowie

Yes, this really is the complete lyrics.

Up on Cripple Creek
She sends me.
If I spring a leak
She mends me.
I don’t have to speak
She defends me.
A drunkard’s dream,
If I ever did see one.

No, I wasn’t a drunk, but I’m crying for my wife as I write the words.
