What Are You Afraid Of?

I was wondering what the most common fears among autistic people are. When I say fear, I mean something like spiders or heights, not like failing or disappointing people. Something tangible, like a thing or an animal.

I’ll go first- I’m afraid of blood. I feel nauseous when I have to get a blood draw and always feel dizzy afterwords. Even looking at a picture of someone with an IV in their vein makes me feel uneasy. I’m also afraid of heights, most bugs, and the ocean.

How about you?

I have been living alone for a while and sometimes late in the evening, after a long day, when it's dark outside and the cats are sleeping so it's just me puttering around the house, I'm a little afraid I'll always be alone. :fearscream: It sneaks up on me sometimes, a fear of being alone.

Heights is one fear. I've also doodled countless eyes and mouths, in my life. I think the basics of most social interaction can be the scariest thing. Enduring all that pain/stress.

#1 Heights over 25'-30' (7.6m - 9.1m) (and yet, I love plane flights)
#2 My own bleeding (yours just puts me in "rescue mode")
#3 Large dogs (been attacked twice in the past so...)

Vomiting to the point I double check movies/shows/whatever else media to make sure I can either avoid it or know it’s safe. I’ve always been afraid of the dark as a kid too

Dying a slow painful death. When it’s my time to go, I want it to be quick and painless.

That is the opposite of my fear. I am most afraid of getting pulled away from life so quickly (heart attack) that I have no time to process it and say goodbye to others.

It's interesting that fears are so diverse. I guess the joys people have in life are diverse too though.

My first thought was, "Pretty much everything," but spiders and dogs are definitely at the top.

I'm afraid of heights, snakes, vomiting, anything associated with vomiting like seeing others vomit, germs a bit they just make me uneasy, the muppets, people who wear those glasses that make their eyes bigger, rapists and murderers, deep water, floating, the dark it was really bad it the past not so much now, clowns a bit well I find them creepy and had nightmares with my clown and circus pillowcase as a child, fire and all lighting things like matches etc.
Ghosts
Some spiders because some are poisonous, could bite you and fall on your head
The bite must hurt and I am more afraid of the poisonous ones and, also the big hairy ones
Currants and big bodies of water and sometimes the bush particularly when it is very dense
Bugs that bite like bullants
Canoeing
People vomiting on my head at carnivals..did I mention vomiting

I am scared of God because He is always finding a way to hurt me and be mean to me for being myself.
I used to have a good relationship with Him but lately all He does is find a new way to hurt me when I have already been so hurt.
It is sad to me because I used to have a really nice relationship where I felt Him constantly and thought He loved me immensely and went to Him for both strength and comfort and always was lowly and never tried to be His equal.
But i could never sit in a box to fit His expectations and think it is right you should have to and it does not make you a curse, it makes you free to be you.
And I struggle because I do not understand my dilemmas and how it is good. I do not understand them at all.
Or why it is so bad always niggled at over and over again when I cannot understand and need understanding

Fears of spiders, heights and blood are common in NTs too.

I fear vomit, which is why I couldn't be a nurse or paramedic. I'm fine with blood, but the sound of people vomiting and the sight of vomit just absolutely terrifies me. Even the word vomit frightens me.

I also fear spiders. The more harmless the type of spider, the more I'm frightened of them. Such ugly things.
