What are your current obsessions?

Ditto. Hence my username. :)

If I could afford it, I think tea could very easily become an obsession of mine. I've always enjoyed a good cup of tea, and recognize that there's a huge difference from say.. regular Lipton orange pekoe for Iced tea, and say.. Earl Gray. Green tea, white oolong tea and such. I've looked at mail order websites for tea, I could see myself having that as a "future obsession"

Thought maybe worth mentioning. :P

Sherlock Holmes
Victorian literature in general (favorites including Wilde, Doyle, Shelley, Keats, Poe)
Doctor Who
Classical music/opera

I like alot of Wilde's works. Did you ever see the BBC production of "The portriat of Dorian Grey?" It was pretty well done. I really enjoy that story.. It's almost like a vampire story :}

No I haven't, but I should! I love "The Portrait of Dorian Grey" It's amazingly creepy and overall wonderful. I also loved "The Importance of Being Earnest" and his fairy stories. (Although nearly all of his fairy stories make me cry.)

@ Biblio-love: Yes. I love the Romantic poets especially. Keats is my favorite of those. Can you believe he wrote so much beautiful and haunting and iconic poetry and died at twenty five?!?! It kinda makes me look at my own writings and go "Damn...I suck."

Keats is my fav romantic poet too. And his letters are so beautiful - full of youth, desire, angst!

I'd never bother comparing myself to such an iconic figure. We all falter then! Jut compare your writing to that of a few years back. If you are improving, then great.

That is another good one ! You can watch Dorian on Youtube, they have the complete production. I also really enjoy "The Ballad of Reading Goa " one of his last works, very, very good ..

I am improving a bit, so that's good. My best friend says I'm getting a lot better at writing emotions. They always sounded robotic, but I'm starting to convey emotions well, so yay. :)

@ Lector Tiberius: I will definitely give it a watch. Thank you for the recommendation. :)

The train trip I'll be taking through much of Canada. I'm also, of course, excited about the stuff I'll be doing at my destination. This is all I've been thinking of.

I've never taken a train over such a long distance before and am a tad nervous I'll lose my luggage or miss a train or something, but I'm sure all will go well. I chose a train over a plane since: 1. On a train you can take pretty much anything you want with you. 2. I want to spend time enjoying the scenery and want to take photos of various parts of Canada.

If this train trip goes well, I'd like to take a train trip to northern Canada sometime next year.

Anyway, I'll be sure to take lots of pics. :)

Yeah! Canada. Were are you going?

I've taken that trip (well, a version that starts farther along the route). The trip itself is not so bad, but there's an issue at the destination.

You'll have to make a decision. Either be in an incredible rush to get things done in several hours, or get stupendously bored by the third day at the destination. Just warning you now.

Currently, it's retro shmups and other video games, internet memes and trends, mental disorders, and Linux...amongst many, of course.

Yes, Linux - we have a love-hate relationship, a part of me wants to switch exclusively to Linux and the other part wishes to stick with Windows, for reasons I could go on about that would fill an entire page. Rather than fight with myself, I've decided to create a dual-boot machine, with Linux Mint 14 and Windows 7 split between two separate partitions on a 640GB hard drive, at least until I can make a final decision (and I probably won't).

I think many people run into that conundrum. I used to run into the occasional issue with dual-boot, and it was ultimately the Linux partition that I abandoned. I have not used Mint before. How is it?

This has been ongoing thing for few years, and is highly relevant today: Musical pieces lasting over 12:07 min.

I actually just got obsessed with an old TV show called "Columbo " I'm not sure why but Peter Falk the lead actors personally is very humorus and I like the way that on the show he thinks very logically , but uncoventionally at the same time ..

Great choice! Haven't actually watched an episode, but I heard it was a great show. So sad that he died not too long ago.

In the past I've had obsessions with Guinness World Records Books (i.e. collecting the different years), origami, long words, hacked games at ArcadePreHacks.com, magic tricks, FR2.ME, Happy Wheels, my Nintendo 3DS then my Android phone. My most recent obsession was with planes, but although I still know tonnes about them, that obsession has died away. I'm not sure what I'm obsessed with now, but soon something will come.
