What are your thoughts on religion?

Religion has served an important role in creating a sense of community through common belief systems, and morals for people to remain civilized and ignore their more base instincts.If you look at the history of the world this is evident in ever single society regardless of location or time .

Voltaire famously said "if god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him"


Sports and religion are two things that i wish i cared about, because They seem to bring joy to a lot of people, but my rational brain just says "Nope, not gonna happen!"

Yes. But what he meant was not flattering.

Which is why I prefer philosophy over religion. The problem with religion is that what it teaches is sacred, and cannot be changed. So when a part of it doesn't work, it cannot be changed; it is only rationalized away.

Do that long enough, like centuries, and things get massively messed up.
