What does it mean to be a friend?

The other thing I have noticed is that people who when you first meet them have a very friendly and intimate manner, and ask you lots of questions are false and nosy. They seem warm and friendly and so nice and have hundreds of friends, but they will not be a genuine friend who will be there for you in times of trouble.
My problem here is that the only way I know of communicating is very direct. Therefore, my natural way to initiate to someone new I care about would be very friendly and intimate (by "intimate" I do NOT mean sexual). If this scares them away because they do not believe me to be genuine, this would be tragic.

I found this video helpful when it came to understanding my troubles with making friends... it might help you too maybe. Best wishes.

To me it means: no secrets between us. I trust you enough to tell you everything. Similarly, you can trust me.

To someone else it means: I would never say something to hurt you.

To someone else it means: I'm always there for you in times of need.

What does 'friends' mean to you?
