What is your favorite Beer?

I'm one of those who thinks most beer just taste like beer, not much difference between them. And I don't drink now. But the Danes have a beer called Tuborg, I used to drink that. Mostly because I liked the green color on the bottle. :) So I'm not a beer connoisseur.

This is kinda what I was referencing in my post. I think a lot of mass-produced beers, particularly lagers, absolutely do all taste the same - Tuborg being one of them.

Whereas there is no way that something like Bristol Beer Factory's Milk Stout and Session IPA could be said to taste the same. Both of them are "beer", but they're completely different drinks (and good ones too, if anyone wants some recommendations!)

I used to drink Tuborg in college. Decent beer....

But then I also recall drinking brands like Ranier Ale and Old English 800. Both were uh....revolting IMO.

I'll agree with that. The common beers and coffees (and I'm sure other things) can taste very similar. But a lot of smaller brands are amazing.

That's the flip side of the growth of craft beer - now there's so much choice, it's difficult to know whether a beer is gonna be any good. I tried a local craft beer the other day and it was horrid.

Fortunately, in the UK we have "The Good Beer Guide" from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA): CAMRA's Good Beer Guide - 50th Edition - CAMRA - Campaign for Real Ale

Not only is this a reliable guide to good beer, but it also has a list of good pubs, many of them with accommodation and food. So when travelling without much of a plan and you need somewhere to stay or something to eat, you can't go far wrong pulling out the guide and going to the nearest listed pub.

I also recall being introduced to Tsingtao Beer from China. Not bad with a big bowl of beef fried rice in San Francisco's Chinatown.

There's actually a good local beer here called Septem. They supposedly have one variety of beer for every day of the week.

@UberScout if this post triggers you please just leave it alone. This is a forum for many questions. Alcohol isn`t a problem for everyone. Eventhou I understand it is for you. And I can fully understand you have a huge problem with it from your personal experience. But there is a huge difference between people who enjoy drinking 2 beers or someone you have experience with. Your line of thinking would also mean that any gun owner is a killer.

But to the question. I like to drink Guinness. I am more of a whiskey guy, but sometimes will go to an irish pub with my wife and we enjoy a couple of stouts.
....Damn my bipolarness...

Yeah the mass-produced big brand beers are very similar to each other I think. Tuborg has a reputation here for being a little bland and uninteresting. I do also prefer white wine and rosè wine and rum over beer, but I haven't tried a lof of types of different beer.

I was once a model for a Dixie Beer promotional poster in New Orleans, LA in 1980. I still have copies of the poster. It was really weird to walk into a grocery store and see my face on a beer poster.

A few years back I went to visit a small rum distillery and it was quite surprising for the same reasons. The main rum brands are all similar, but the "good stuff" this distillery produced had so much more taste and variety it was like a different drink altogether.

The ridiculous thing about low alcohol drinks is that they're the same as hard drinks. I don't like either because they make my autism worse, dizzy and my stomach is super sensitive to especially beer, something in the ferments.

What I liked about beer is that it is significantly made with natural products and it doesn't have too much sugar like all the crap they put in fizzy drinks.

I always get headaches from wine, but I found a restaurant where the wine was very different, it's probably a local European brand, however they filled my glass too much and I drank it all. I ended up not being able to hold my bag properly, lost control of my arms and they started shaking. After that scare I didn't want to be living life like the Queen anymore.

What I liked about wine especially white wine is it's very effective at breaking and preventing kidney stones, so I was going for some kidney cleansing.

I don't even know why I started talking in this thread if it just reminds me of the hell I went through with alcohol.
