What Obsessions Do You Have?

Guys, this doesn't pertain to you.
So yeeer. Most Aspie girls I know aren't interested in computers and stuff.
Actually, I don't know any girl who's interested to the extent I am in computers and stuff.
One girl I got on with who had AS was interested in politics and philosophy and conspiracy theories, I was interested in them too, but not in maths, computers and science. The former obsessions seem to be ones you find in girls who have AS and the latter seem to be ones you find in males.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is interested in computers, maths or science?
I know a couple of people in the spectrum who are female and say they're interested in computers... but I confuse them with-in two minutes of talking about them.
I actually really do want to talk to a female who's interested in computers like me. I've NEVER met one.
Every person I talk to about computers on the spectrum(and off) is a guy :/.
There was one girl on Facebook from school, but she still got a bit confused :/. And I don't want to talk to her irl, and I did once and she lol'd at me :S.
Actually, the one who was interested in politics and philosophy and conspiracy theories wanted to be a virologist. So IDK about that one.
IDK any females interested in science tbh, or maths really. I was trying to teach on my female friends binary but they went offline randomly. Then one of my male friends was extremely interested and wanted me to teach him other numeric systems.
Sorry for poor conduction of post.
People say that AS girls are like philosophers and AS guys are like professors. IMO, I'm a bit of both. TBH though, I never really conformed to either gender. I feel a bit genderless actually.

imo you sound a pretty damn cool person emor, i have only just realized where this post is, my bad i just clicked on it from the recently added topics box

Thanks Mike :). You are too ^_^.
And I'm _not_ that bothered if guys post. It's just that recently the posts guys have been making are just rants about girls or insults or w.e.
EMZ=]

ill do my best not to rant or insult and whatnot, but i will look in the future before i post stuff to see where the stuff is

No problem. I'm not bothered. Men can make constructive contributions in subjects regarding woman, it's just, recently... certain members just haven't :/. Thus why I'm a bit paranoid.
I know not every girl will agree and some might even find it funny, but personally, it pisses me off.

I used to be interested in maths, science and computers, but not to a huge extent. I've always been more boyish in my interests, but my obsessions have kind of been...unisex. ie...music or film.

I'd probably say the same. I think Maths, Science and computers are unisex though.
But my interests in insects what not are probably rather 'male' as such.
I also don't get creeped out like girls do. I don't mind, or I'm even interested in blood and gore. I'm the sort of person who when walking home and sees a dead animal will actually bend down and look out of interest to see why it died, then take 5 minutes to figure out that that sort of behaviour isn't accepted >_<. Purely for educational, non-sadistic interests though. I think that's actually even weird for males tbh.
This probably doesn't even pertain the subject.
I think I might make a new topic about stuff like that.

For me, my obsessions change. They can be very mathematically based, and they were especially mathematically based when I was in high school. For three out of the four years, my math homework was what I looked forward to, and Calculus class was the highlight of my day.

In college, I was required to take statistics, which didn't challenge me at all, whereas calculus gave me a feeling of triumph each time I arrived at an answer. Statistics was the only math class required, and after taking it, I was so bored that I didn't look for math electives, because it really didn't fit in with my area of study.

Now though, my interests tend to be geared more toward physiology, so science, yes, but not physics or chemistry or engineering. The brain fascinates me, as does speech and language.

I have other obsessions as well, but none are what I would call "feminine". I have some obsession with certain television shows and books, some of which are geared more towards women and some of which are geared more towards men, but I feel that in these areas, my obsessions are closer to being "gender-unbiased".

I have quite a few obsessions, they usually last about a few months. One of my biggest obsessions is Mozilla Firefox because it is the best browser and offers the most and many other reasons. If you played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess you'll notice that there's a character named Midna, that is actually my name to, which is why I'm obsessed. I used to hate my name until I played this game.

BTW, I'm probably one of the few girls who is interested in computers.

My number one obsession is Agatha Christie novels. My second is Astrology/Numerology and anything metaphysical. Third would be philosophy and politics. I wouldn't say computers are an obsession of mine, but since I married my husband (who definitely has Aspie traits and is into computers) I've gotten a little bit more into computers. I'm interested in the programming languages---for a while I was learning HTML. Something just clicked. Also, Astrology/Metaphysics has kind of led to an interest in Astronomy, Quantum Physics, and other types of sciences.

It's a relief to find a place where my differences will be celebrated and not seen as deficient.

Also, I know a lot's been said about it being a little bit easier for girls with AS to be social. I think sometimes it depends on the interests. Like my husband, his obsessions are gaming and fantasy football. Those are things a lot of NT guys are into. But like in my case, it's hard to find an NT girl who is obsessed with Quantum Physics, Metaphysics, Politics, and Agatha Christie.

I'm a little more well rounded now. I'm trying to cultivate different hobbies, like playing an instrument, singing, and crafting, so maybe that will help me in the long run.

Aspergers is the worst for me, I don't doubt I have it worse then anyone else who has it, plus I have my own kind of Aspergers, a new kind that currently still doesn't have a name yet. It is the worst kind of Aspergers to go live with, pretty much nothing but misery (when you go through depression that is). Why don't they call it Midna's Aspergers or something like that. I know most girls have it easier but I certainly don't! I even have it worse then guys. Pretty much everything I want, a friend, a normal future, a job etc is pretty much impossible for me and there's other things I can't explain right now because I don't know how and it requires a lot of explanation. Depression brings out the worst in Aspergers.

Why are Aspie girls into complex interests? Why not stick to something simple like... computers?

Astrology, Numerology, Philosophy, Metaphysics, Quantum Physics... my brain is fried.

Oh and i'm into politics too.   B)

That's actually a fair point Calvert. I never thought about computers being more simple as such...
I personally wouldn't say simple, but definitely in a different category.
Computers do interest me, but I'm more interested in other subjects(i.e biology, philosophy, politics[not so much], psychology etc.). When I was younger I was only interested in computers and got into debates over computers. Now I find that pretty pathetic tbh.
I mean, when people take it seriously(like applesoldier, samueltehg33k, etc. on Youtube).
I hope in a couple of years I'll be able to accept other people are religious and ignore the want to state how their statements are ludicrous, like I can when someone bashes an OS.
Yeah.
Rambles :D.

I love molecules,Alot of chemistry,physiology,toxicology,pharmacology. I HATE politics.I love maths,its so straight forward.Mechanics especailly. I dont like statistics either.

When some one asks me what I like,I say everything! Because everything is made of molecules/ions and the subatomic stuff I love too like photons and quarks.:)

YESH YESH that is what's great.

Anyone played professor layton on ds?

Politics and government, including history of government. event and organization planning, especially for nonprofits. the internet. Filmmaking was such an obsession I could barely function but since I couldn't study it in school I am trying to avoid it. :(

My obsessions change every 2-6 years, but those are the constants. Usually I have a person or movie or tv show that I am huuuugely obsessed with but I don't at the moment.

I am interested in computers and have learned some html but my dyscalculia interferes somewhat with my learning in that. I love science but mainly biology, anthropology, and psychology-- also probably limited by my math.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to be easier for me to be social than the boys. It's been 9 years since I've made a friend, and that friend was the first friend I'd ever made in the 11 years I'd been alive.

Wow... Reading all these posts about obsessing over stuff like biology and quantum physics is making me feel really dumb by comparison. ^_^

When I was a kid/teenager all I liked was Japanese anime, and pretty much anything else having to do with Japan.

My latest obsession is Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It really is a terrific movie IMO.

I do like computers, but I view them only as a means to an end rather than an obsession in and of itself.

I'm a girl. I don't have much of an interest in computers or mathematics, but I do have an interest in science. Not to an obsessive extent, but it is certainly keen. I love theoretical physics (especially relativity, quantum mechanics and the theory that combines the two - string theory). I also like particle physics, molecular biology and cellular biology. I'm studying science at college in a few months and am planning on becoming a biologist of some kind. I like physics but I'm terrible at maths so I know I'd be hopeless as a physicist.

My current obsession (I actually haven't had an obsession this intense for a good few years) is Morrissey. Luckily, he has a lot of obsessive fans so I don't feel as much of a freak as I did with my other obsessions (which included Nazism and serial killers).

As a female with AS, I do know quite a few women who have been obsessed with computers or something related. They were on a different site than this. Speaking for myself, that is the only thing I am good at. Science or technology related fields, as well as math. I'm so far from being creative it's not even funny. It's to the point that my sense of humor is very poor. I hate movies and TV but I do enjoy instrumental music such as jazz. My huge talent is in computer programming. I can simply read through pages and pages of code and see errors or syntax issues. I never even had to try, it's just one of those things I'm good at. Even just reading anything, my brain just shows me patterns, errors, whatever. Puzzles are nothing to me. Also, I can fix pretty much anything. Computers, laptops, machines, I don't know why but I picked up like it was nothing. Going off topic here, my point is that I love, love, love science. It's how I'm wired. I love Astronomy and Physics the most. I have been so absorbed into it all for a long time now. I can't get enough. It's all I think about. When I was very young, I was obsessed with music. I played the piano by ear and was so very absorbed in this for a long time. So, I really don't think it has to do with whether or not you're a female or male. Everyone is obsessed with different things and I don't think your gender has much to do with it. Who cares either way anyway? If you're a female or male and you like horses or you like computers, big deal.

LOL my interests as an Apsie female are in politics and philosophy, also in anthropology, but I also love sciences. Also activities like various sports and surfing the internet.
