What was the last movie you watched?

The Hobbit is among my all time favorite novels and while I have greatly enjoyed the first two parts of the live action trilogy, I tell people that if they want a movie that's faithful to the book they should watch the animated film from the 70s.

That one manages to condense the best parts of the book's plot down to 80 minutes without actually leaving out that much. It has an awesome soundtrack too. The soundtrack never got an official CD release, but you can find mp3s pulled from the record if you know where to look.

I'm swooning!!! I just watched a romantic Christmas movie called "A Christmas Kiss". Ahhhhhhh. (Heavy sigh) And it had a horsey ride in it too!!! Can dreams really come true???? :)

Been re-watching the Star Wars saga with my son who's never seen them! So far we've watched Episodes 4 and 5. We're watching them in the order released instead of chronological.

That's actually the best way to do it. The story makes sense either way, but if you watch in order of release, Revenge Of The Sith makes a better climax to the saga than Return Of The Jedi.

Have you watched any of the Star Wars: Rebels tv series? It's supposed to be the canonical story of how the Rebel Alliance was formed and so far it's excellent. You can definitely tell it's a Disney production because there are a lot of Disneyish elements in it, but that just makes me more excited for the new movies because they've now proven that they know what they're doing.

Annie

It won't win any Oscars or anything, but it's much better than the original film. Quvenzhane (sp?) Wallace is great as the title character and Cameron Diaz is enjoyably hammy as Miss Hannigan. Jay-Z produced the musical numbers and it shows, but it's good. Hard Knock Life will stay in your head for days.

Not yet, but it's on the list of things we need to watch before Episode 7 comes out!

The Sound of Music. I will watch this at least once around Christmas or the New Year for pure nostalgia. Now I can't stop singing the songs.

The Snowman (watching it right now). It's a christmas tradition.

Edit: Or maybe it was on Boxing Day. Do they still play this on TV?

The Interview, yeah, it was pretty terrible, reminded me of a cheap B movie spy flick from the 70's. The Eminem cameo was funny and so were a few other scenes, but a pretty bad movie overall.

One of my favorite quotes ever:

"When I was a child, our teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. I said 'happy'. He told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told him he didn't understand life." - John Lennon

I'll have to see that movie.

I really liked it...and the quote...thanks for sharing ;)

I found early bar band recordings of The Quarrymen and the title of the movie while looking at Buddy Holley vids on Youtube.

Into The Woods was amazing. They nailed it, absolutely perfectly. If you're a fan of the stage show you won't be disappointed. It's always been one of my favorite stories period, from any medium, and I've always felt a strong emotional connection to it so I knew I would get weepy watching the film. I did okay until it got to "No One Is Alone", but then I lost it. Silently, but even so. That song always gets me. If this doesn't win the Best Picture awards it's been nominated for, there's something wrong with the voters.
