Windows XP installation question

I am an MCSE. "Will it require me contacting them"... No... "Will it run outside their licensing".. Yes. Not technically, legally, but it will work fine.. But why use xp and not 7? There is no need to do that, it will run fine with 7.. "not supported past xp" does not mean that 7 cannot run it, natively, for one. And two, it would be able to use compatibility mode. Nothing to worry about

I haven't been able to run much of anything in the way of older software using Windows 7 compatibility mode. Even using the clunky XP mode with Windows 7 Professional. A key reason why I've kept XP as a legacy system on my older computer. I am pleased though that Photoshop 5.5 runs ok...but Extensis plug-ins are unpredictable.

I have never once ever had a problem with "old software". As long as it was at least xp compatible, should not have any problem in 7

will a 7 emulator run my printer as it was intended for XP?
what do you mean by 7 emulator? I think you are using the wrong term... You should just be able to plug it into a 7 machine and it should automatically install it. If it does require the installation disk, try running it straight and if it doesnt work, right click the installer and click troubleshoot. Windows will almost always correct itself. Then just click start program when it pops up

I guess it depends on how "old" is old. ;)

Well, I've had virtually no luck and tried many "fixes". But then I'm talking about a sold 64-bit platform with a 64-bit operating system. Didn't expect not to be able to run Corel Draw 3.0, but I couldn't even get Illustrator 8.0 to run either. Inkscape runs fine, but it's not my first choice for vector graphics.

What? 7 runs corel draw 3, just fine... No no..Right click the installers and click troubleshoot. Allow windows to do it for you. It will be fine. im downloading corel 3 now, to verify, but I am 99.9% sure it works fine

Thanks. Hmmmmm....well, I'll give it a shot again. I'd love to have it back since this system is connected to a high res color printer.

I haven't tried anything yet

So as you have said,XP will run without connecting to microsoft with no clocked timeouts involved?

I did try to run my printer on my old vista machine, but no dice...I have a laptop running 7 but never played with it much outside of it's present application as a surfboard

Well, not by default, no. Would have to be cracked or have trial continuously reset. Both are simple. The last thing in the world you should be doing, if you have 7, is using xp. Period

vista sucked ass. It was only a partial OS. 7 is completely different

The MACH 3 machine code software should be installed on an uncorrupted machine...CNC crashes can get expensive and dangerous at the same time,so I do not want those boxes to ever go inline and crash from junkware

I dont have any idea what you are talking about... And what is a CNC crash... Just looked it up. That doesnt have anything to do with a desktop computer

I do machine work on metal cutting machinery...

Nope, I'm not talking about version "X" 3. When I said Corel Draw 3.0, I meant it literally.

That's a circa 1992 16-bit application.

K, Ill try that one... It runs on xp?.. I cant even find it to download it. It doesnt look like it runs under xp, either. Win 3.x... IF it runs under xp, it will run in 7
