A corndog is what we'd call an American hotdog, right? Long skinny sausage in a long bun with tomato sauce/ketchup and American mustard?

Correct, an American hot dog dipped in corn batter and fried, it wouldn't be American if it wasn't fried!

My word is Chili, what I prefer on my hot dog.

Oh sorry I was thinking of in a bread roll. The battered and fried version I'd just call a fried hot dog.

It goes by different names depending on where you live. I've heard it called a corn dog, cozy dog, and pronto pup. There's a place in Springfield, IL that has been around forever that specializes in the "hot dog on a stick." It's on old Route 66. I ate there for the first time over 50 years ago.
