Your response to that first big snow event of the winter?

Despite what I say, when I have time to go for a walk in the snow, I find it's magical, a few photos from the past... When the snowfall is during a weekday it's hard to get out and photography...

And maybe I need a better winter car, like this one perhaps?

But this one might work better in the snow... That's not me, but the owner of this truck...

I see your Citroen 2CV and raise you a DL-1. 28" tires are the perfect height to bog up to the axles in a 14" drift.
Didn't make it very far from the apartment that day.

It's amazing the weather that some people endure. I'm in LA, oblivious as a child.
Have fun with that; it's amazing the _traffic_ some people subject themselves to, the high rents, lack of stars at night, all that.
I'm back in South Carolina where the weather's nice enough, but I'd really love rural land in Vermont. The weather tries to kill the people in Vermont about once a year. Keeps the casuals away.
Connecticut was nice but the weather wasn't quite foul enough for me.

We don't get much snow where I am - winter is usually several weeks of temperatures hovering around freezing, creating a mess of black ice which I absolutely dread. That reminds me, I should probably buy some crampons.

On the other hand, I love the beauty of trees frosted with snow, and the cute puffy layers of snow that accumulate on fences and other things. Last year, with temperatures unseasonally dropping to 10-15 below freezing, but the weather being dry, it was absolutely delightful to go out and explore what it's like to go out for a walk / run in the snow.

There's a certain delight, after a snowfall, to be the first to tread on a certain path.

I found this creekside path by following tracks in the snow.

Frosty also does this to my windows:

Today, I got plenty of exercise moving snow, including clearing the sidewalk for two neighbours. Just as I finished, I found out I'm not the most antisocial guy in town. This is a place where drivers wave to pedestrians, so I said hi to a guy dressed in a trench coat and scarf, and he didn't even, nod, even as he used the passage I'd just finished opening.

A few from my urban walk today, light snow showers and chilly weather... Even more cold weather to come in the next few days (-15 Celcius!), it wasn't that cold today...

First real snow on this side of town now starting. So much for fall colors. Taken just a few minutes ago.

I am a confident winter driver, and driving through snow is just part of life
I'm confident in my skills, yes. The other drivers? Not so much. We had two close calls with yahoos driving jacked pick-up trucks yesterday. The bigger the truck, the more a-hole it carries.

I'm avoiding getting infected with the nasties making the rounds so I don't go out unless it's unavoidable. The roads aren't changing that much.

I'm currently enjoying the first proper spring storm for the year. The weird blasts of cold from the antarctic have finally stopped. It's 8:30 in the evening, 30 degrees celsius, and I'm listening to the rain and the thunder.

It's not real thunder like you get in the tropics but still enjoyable.
