Ever struggle picking out gifts, because you're afraid of misinterpreting what people wanted?
My paraplegic uncle passed away today. I hate that it has to happen, especially since my ex gaslit me into thinking that his eventual death is all my fault.

My condolences. I am sorry also for what happened with your ex. Sometimes it is hard to think rationally when someone gaslights you, but these thoughts are not reality.

Thank you both. Due to the intense grief, I probably won't go to my family's annual Christmas Eve party, all it's gonna do is increase the odds of my having a meltdown and lashing out at everyone. My mom is begging me to go, yet she doesn't always understand what goes on in my mind on a daily basis when I'm upset.
Shortly before a meltdown. This day was extremely straining so far. Please let me resist until I am finally alone. People keep talking around me.
The Christmas cake needs a bit longer. Our oven can be a little unpredictable at times. I make this recipe every year and this is the first time it's required a little extra time hopefully another 40-50 minutes. Fingers crossed again! :-)

My Mum was great with cakes but we had to be careful in the house when she was baking, we weren't allowed to make too much noise or slam any doors. "Better yet, why don't you all go and play outside for a while?". :)

So how'd it turn out?

It turned out just right I think! 🙂 My phone started running out of battery so I didn't get a chance to post an update 🙃 It's all cooled down now so the next stage is the icing. I usually apply a layer of jam and then marzipan, then another later of jam and finally some fondant icing :-)
Driving in the dark is tough, but driving through an area with the only lights come from your headlights is a nightmare.
Raisin Bran for dinner. Ah, well, could be worse.
Christmas shopping in a shopping center is so exhausting. I started kind of enjoying myself, but now I'm completely drained.

I accept it. It's no longer in the millions. Now it's. "Not in a billion years", will I ever fall in love.

Yes and winning the lottery jackpot.
To a cat, a good idea is climbing up the front of the radio and trying to rip the cloth out of the speakers to figure out where the voice is coming from. Thanks a lot, cats.

Every middle class household had to have a replica cathedral radio in the living room as a conversation piece. My tastes are more towards Streamline Moderne though.

@oregano that's interesting. I do have this old Majestic 50 which is an original tombstone/cathedral set. But it was only $10 so how can I pass that up. Thankfully kitty hasn't decided to eat it yet.

I have a Philco 66 in the shed awaiting repair. I bought it for $30 after finding it in a barn during an estate sale in Etna, Calif., in 2023. For that price it was too good to pass up. The Philcos of that era had all sorts of weird proprietary components under the chassis so as to force the owner to use Philco designated repair shops. Like Apple Computer and the Macintosh,.
I want to budget to go on a solo trip sometime next year. Someplace with a beach.

My favorites for water activities and topside life is Bonaire and La Paz, Baja Sur. La Paz has the better beaches.
we brought in one of my boxes of figures yesterday but, honestly speaking, there wasn't much in the box that i wanted to actually put on display - i just put one of my transformers and my godzilla figure on display. everything else? yeah just put it in a storage tub underneath my bed.
The chaos feels like it has subsided. My unhappiness feels distant. My heart feels like it beats to a different tune. My mind feels clear of the tormenting dark fog that ailes it. I can focus. I can see more than before. Like taking off a blindfold.
