  • Gonna cook a beef roast ("tri tip" as this cut is called in the US) for Christmas tomorrow. Turkey is generally only available around here for Thanksgiving.

That sounds good. Ham is also a common Christmas tradition food. Not sure how common it is now-a-days, though.

Few people eat bone-in ham here for any holiday anymore. There was a company called Honeybaked that sold cooked hams for the holidays, but they went out of business years ago. Bone-in ham is so difficult to cook that few bother. Certain ethnicities who eat pig on holidays tend to opt for pork roasts now.
Cool vintage ashtray found in a local thrift store. Drawing appears to be of a post-WW2 medium duty Ford truck.

I probably only have about 20-25 years left (up to early 70s) so I am going to enjoy what I have left while waiting for the inevitable visit from Grim Reaper/Santa Muerte.
will be on only sporadically, as there hasn't been very many sunny days here and I rely on solar power, and even though I use a laptop it chomps tons of juice.
Maple candy time. I bought two boxes off Ebay because I didn't notice that I was buying a quarter pound instead of the full one pound I wanted. So I get 20 ounces of maple candy to raise my blood sugar levels too high.
Sky (well, lots of rain) forecasted to fall here all week starting early Monday. Chicken Little is dutifully monitoring the radio for further notices.

20mph winds with temps in the upper 30s deg F outside right now. I will wait until later to put the tools back in the shed.
is making an insulated enclosure for my house battery to keep it warm during cold nights so it doesn't lose so much voltage. Gonna install it early tomorrow morning while listening to KCBS-AM San Francisco.
First big rainstorm of the season here. I can hear rain coming down. Gonna rain on and off all week.

Today I learned that I can not parachute into a forum for highly specialized knowledge workers, meaning computer programmers, drop an Arduino program that they realized was copypasta gibberish, then ask them if it was ok. They told me to try to compile it and that resulted in 4 pages of errors. My attempts to fix it only dug me deeper. Tonight I stopped digging.

Sometimes writing your own is actually easier. What's the project?

Arduino dual time (local and UTC) clock based on Velleman Arduino modules. Well, it was. The parts are going in the shed for a while.
