It depends on the country & the state. Usually, a degree in Early Childhood Ed. is required or some similar qualification. The thing with the programmes as they stand now in the USA & Canada is that they demand a lot of education but pay extremely low salaries for long hours. As for guys in daycare, there are many of them here & many of them are very good at what they do. If you want to earn more money, you might check careers of the future that pay higher salaries, are in demand & require a similar investment in terms of education. For example, a licensed massage therapist in the USA can earn up to 70,000$ per year whereas a daycare worker will make no more than about 25,000$. Air traffic controllers & flight attendants require little training but earn considerably more money. It's up to you, of course. Do look into your options in your state.
