It has been awhile but I like going to the zoo too and usually get a plush animal of some kind while there.
My grandfather's funeral is going to cost me $0

I understand that funerals cost money.
But not why you would be obligated to pay for it.

Sounds good. Hopefully more than Social Security allocates for formal recipients. ($255) Last I heard the average cost was around $5000.

@tree My grandpa had already purchased a pre-need plan from the funeral home prior to his death that was (almost) entirely all paid off (literally the last payment of ~$150 would've been due this month)
I did not repair my Windows install today but I did buy a new enclosure for my external hard drive and thankfully the problem where my external drive was not working was because the SATA to USB adapter stopped working and not the actual drive itself having failed. It means I just spent like $25 to fix it in like 2 minutes instead of hundreds of dollars on data recovery.
I am going to try and repair my Windows install today, if for no reason other than I kind of (unfortunately) still need Windows for some games that are a pain in the ass/basically impossible to get working on Linux.
I came out to my grandfather today.

I can't say it went good or bad because he wasn't even awake but still, I just wanted to do this and tell him before he passes.

I wish I could have done it earlier.

I won't make you happy by saying this. But the coming out is for you, not him. His generation thought of things quite differently than you do. You might actually hurt him. If he's old and weak, just leave things as it is. Otherwise it's selfish.

If he loves you, it's okay. But it may not be important to him, or he may not understand. But you felt better. You felt connected. He will know you, by your spiritual connection.

My grandmother was kind of in and out of it. But she recognized me as one that always showed her love. And we both felt secure in that connection. The most important thing, is that you showed up for him. That's a beautiful gift. I am sorry you are going thru this difficult time now.
My grandpa is going into hospice tomorrow, the hospice will be at the hospital he is currently at. If I want to, I could sleep there too and be with him.
Well my Windows install randomly destroying itself (despite me not having booted into Windows in over a week) sure is fun.

I probably should fix it/reinstall Windows but I can't be bothered right now.

Try Linux. Seriously, I don't want to sound fanboyish, but Linux is far superior to Windows. 498 out of 500 supercomputers can't be wrong. (LOL) I use Linux Mint.

I literally dualboot Linux Mint and Windows 11, that's why my reaction to this is annoyance and not me freaking out

Hell yesterday was my first time (trying) to boot into Windows in over a week
I haven't posted here much about this (mostly because I don't wanna depress y'all) but as of this morning, my grandpa is now under Do Not Resuscitate orders. He's too old and frail to try CPR if something happens and he stops breathing or goes into cardiac arrest.

How aggravating. Makes one want to ring their bell something fierce.
You know I don't use the terminal in Linux as much as the memes say I would.

That's a misconception that a lot of Windows users have, that we have to do everything by typing in a terminal. There are some things that are just quicker and easier to do in a terminal but it's not a compulsory thing.
