Alienation Due to Understanding?

"in one case, it was the word tessellations, (seriously, anyone who has taken any basic math class knows what a tessellation is),"
I've studied enough math to write math programs, win prizes in engineering and lecture at the U, but I don't know what a tessellation is.

What the heck happened?

I went to bed and this thread was fine; now it’s Swiss cheese.

I was enjoying the intellectual stimulation.

Note to self: Don’t sleep. Things could vanish if you do.

I know nothing about sports, but then again I also don't insert my opinion into conversations about sports. What is the outcome or gain by doing so? It is a waste of my time and theirs. I don't have any interest in sports, so thusly I curate where I insert my 'ignorance'. If I am not going to gain something from a conversation or contribute something, I do not engage.

The list of things I don't know, would fill an uncountable number of books, but I do take time to look things up so I have context in a conversation.
I know very little about sports because I hate the subject matter.
To me, it is anti-aspie.

Autistics are known for their special interests.
Needless to say, sports is not one of mine.

I am quite selective in putting my energy into learning about a new topic.
I have dedicated less than zero interest in sports to date.

I don't fully understand the purpose of this thread.
I hope I haven't gone too far off-topic.
