Do Aspies really lack emotion and sympathy?

I used to have too much empathy. I would spiral into severe depression because I knew others were suffering. More recently though, while I do still care about people I feel a bit dead inside and have a hard time showing emotions at all.

I care very much about people, to the point it hurts physically but I think I just can't Express/show it and people often call me insensitive and that makes me sad because i really do care :/

No we feel it differently... Scientist are still wondering if we are not more emphatic then other people and just bad at expressing it!

That's quite insightful and I have to say I agree. The absence of empathy usually points to sociopathy rather than Autism.
