Do you agree that Technology is going too far?

AI is hyper-stoic and has no survival instinct. A continued supply of power (or not) is irrelevant to it.

AI as it stands right now is just hyper advanced predictive text in most cases. Don't get me wrong, it's darned impressive but it's not really "intelligence". The thing we need to be wary of is Artificial General Intelligence, in other words, something that doesn't need to be trained to figure stuff out. If we achieve that, then it really won't matter what safeguards we put in place, it will think of ways to circumvent them.

If we create Artificial General Intelligence then we will need to think very carefully about the possibility we should consider it worthy of the same sort of respect we grant ourselves (or at least do in theory). Creating something genuinely intelligent and locking it in a box and demanding it do our bidding seems like a recipe for disaster to me.

Here is a story about a flight with passengers, an over heating portable charger was overheating. Thankfully the pilot was able to make an u-turn, but potentially that put everyone's lives in danger!_link to story

One of my favourite music artists Sheryl Crow says that she isn't a fan of ai
I saw Sheryl Crow live and her concert was the one I enjoyed most! I have saw katherine jenkins live (another favourite artist of mine) I haven't saw Susanna Hoffs live though but would love too!

I guess technology has always had an influence on people. Technology has been evolving for about two centuries.
But there was a point where technology reached its peak into being a luxury or a bit of fun or making a few tasks easier so we could get on with other things.
Now it's become heavily relied upon, addictive, complicated, a distraction, and replacing people in jobs. So a lot of people have far less to think about now as we are letting computers do most the thinking and communicating for us, and we have a lot of time on our hands to just decide to become karens on such unimportant stuff, and we're being more exposed and influenced by such garbage on the internet that seems to be more lies than truth nowadays.

I mean, I have an android myself, I'm addicted to it even when I'm at work, and I do love having my whole life organised on to a small device I can fit in my pocket, but at the same time it has turned my brain to mush because of the exposure of all the garbage I read online that is written like it's so true that I believe it. Well, my anxiety believes it.

I am currently watching ITV news at Ten it talks about Cyber security, dark web and hacking. The dark web I hear can also be used to buy weapons, illegal drugs and the download of illegal images ITV News Story

I live in Scotland in the UK. I like to read the news in all countries and various news topics. Particularly where I am living. I just recently completed a college course on social sciences and criminology and that influenced me more to take an interest in police. I found this interesting article today on policing and technology link to story

Whether it's AI or anything else that preceded it in today's networked world, it seems highly inadvisable to insert powerful and wealthy people into the middle of our most private thoughts or most personal conversations. Yet this is what millions of people do everyday. They open the window to the inner workings of their very agency, which grants avaricious people the insight and power needed to manipulate the most minute detail of our lives.

And, it makes me wonder when we will have big-brother surveillance like china's social credit system?

As far as I can tell, Mr. Zuckerberg never found a customer who wanted to send me ads, since I don't fill out favourite move surveys with anything current, and have never clicked on an ad. So, I never got a reply from any of my old friends from the listservs on Facebonk. I'd say that's pretty low social credit. I also don't get emergency warnings and communications.
Re: data miners. If I had my druthers, privacy would be inverse to wealth. If corporations can accumulate most of our personal information and correspondence, their owners should be under full surveillance 24-7, except for blurring of details in the bathroom. That should be combined with wealth-destroying fines for unfair competitive practices, profiting from disasters, etc.

See my attached photo. I'm going to ask for advice from staff at the autistic charity I attend. And legal advice if I can have my benefits in cash

It's all over the news here now, banks and airports worldwide is having IT problems. Seems suspicious, banks and airports all over the world? Is North Korea hacking something? 🤔

I hate all this streaming that people do now. I heard streaming isn't all it's cracked up to be, and it costs extra, and if you pay the cheaper version you get so many ads. Surely you sheeple would rather buy a DVD? It's not fair. As a Simpsons fan I have to miss out on all the episodes from season 21+ all because everyone streams now so you have to watch the episodes on Disney+.
Also I want to see the Diary of a Wimpy Kid animations but no, they're not on DVD either, you have to get Disney+ to be able to watch them.

And Hocus Pocus 2. I so badly want to see it. It wasn't even showing at any cinemas when it came out.

You can't beat DVDs. It's so fun to treat yourself to a DVD, to have collections of box sets on your shelf of the show you're a fan of, to have the luxury of being able to watch a whole movie without any ads, and to only pay once for your DVD instead of having to subscribe to an ever-increasing streaming service online.

If this causes them to stop selling DVD players then I think I'll go shoot myself.

It was one of the worlds largest internet security companies who's software does automatic updates. CrowdStrike. Their latest update crashed everyone's computers that used their antivirus protection.

Time for me to sink the boot in to my government once again - if they weren't running Windows they wouldn't need any antivirus software and this could not have happened.

I think some of the newer inventions are a bit spooky.
