Favourite beer?

I like Belgian Strong Ales, including quads and dubbels. Struise Pannepot, Rochefort Trappistes 10, and Chimay blue are some favorites.

Kilkenny. It's pretty dark in colour and lots of taste, but not bitter or as dark as Guinness. Ale.

I also rather like Newcastle Brown Ale and Boddington's Pub Ale.

No, I haven't. Oh, and I really like Innis & Gunn's oak-aged something or other beer, only had it once. Very nice.

I was trying to fix you up with a good local mild or brown ale. Newky Brown isn't it used to be. They changed the recipe.

Love Greek food! Not had many beers from there, Mythos excepted. My favourite Greek film is Island of Death - the love songs in that is awesome, so sickly sweet.

Mythos is mass produced and not such good quality IMO, but there are a few good beers produced by micro-breweries, it's an industry that has grown over the last few years. I don't know that film.

I wonder what style of beer would go best with chilli. A pale lager would be more than a bit dull I think. I'd have to think about that. Maybe a moderately hoppy IPA would be better? I don't know - I'd have to experiment. We have Modelo and Corona (and Coronita) here, they're pretty well known.
I don't drink beer but do occasionally cook with it. I prefer Mexican beers such as Tecate or Modelo for making chili. Corona beer tastes awful in chili, like BudLite.
I don’t put tomatoes on my chili like some do. I make authentic chili con carne and find beer and a tad speck of chocolate or cocoa round out and mellow the taste of bitter tasting dried chilli varieties and ties all the flavors together. I’ll keep this in mind as I hadn’t had a bad experience with beer types. I usually use a belgian or mellow golden beer. I bet dark would be yuck. I wonder if Corona lends it’s skunk? Light beer is too weak but I just add a lot more and cook it down longer till the excess evaporates. I always thicken with small amount of masa anyway.

Beer makes me feel bad sometimes and messes with blood sugar more, is filling and more bloating. But on occasion when I desire some it is...

8% or more craft, drink less and therefore less bloat, a little dab a do ya!
St. Stephens - also a fixation on their bottles. Will make a set of drinking glasses after a church. Beer made by monks and they get a percentage of revenue.
Shiner bock (low alcohol but the flavor is killer)
Andygator - the lighter ones
Belgians

Are you a native of Texas? If you are, there are beer rating websites out there that will find you an amazing microbrewed lager. https://www.ratebeer.com/ can fix you up. Do an advanced search for Pale Lager or Pilsener.
I’m a little afraid of the wheat, if it is brewed in copper tanks, and things like that. I can have reactions to some. I’m not crazy enough about beer to search itnout that hard. I know a few basics ones I like when I have once a year craving with pizza or certain foods. I have to watch my alcohol intake due to aging and developing contradicting health issues. But I do appreciate this website. I’ll keep it on hand. You saved me trouble. Also there is a craft beer and brewery supply store that has samples on tap and makes recommendations. I like that I can taste a small sample before buying.
