Give me a description of what’s happening in the photo.

Found my new neighbors setting fires in the back yard. It looks like they are practicing an occult.

Nothing about the photo looks occult to me. No ceremonial robes/nudity, no circle/points of the compass, etc.
Just looks like someone burning something.
The only thing unusual is that the fire seems... tall. I can't make out what the top of the fire is. Unless it's a human head, you're probably fine.

Burning brush.

Apparently they don't heat with wood.
They aren't saving the brush for later, to start a fire when the weather is cold.

Doesn't look creepy to me, just somewhat dangerous. That's a pretty big flame near that wooden fence. Looks like they are burning brush. Hope they are being safe and have some water nearby.

@Rodafina It was very bright in the night. It kinda scared me because I thought there was a big fire in my area. I was what’s the crazy neighbor doing at night.

That's a question for your local fire marshal. In Nevada someone caught doing something like that would likely be in a lot of trouble if in an urban area. We have some well-defined laws when it comes to "controlled burning".

Brush fires remain our greatest hazard, naturally caused or otherwise. Way more than earthquakes or floods. Especially this time of year:

Burning dry fuels on a clear night, not a lot of smoke so there's probably no leaves/wet paper, possibly a liquid accelerant such as fuel oil or waste motor oil?

Source: a youth spent doing redneck stuff.

An out-of-shape person wearing shorts and burning brush too close to a wooden fence.

Nothing occult is happening.

In many areas burning trash/brush is illegal due to the hazard of it spreading.
I suspect this is the answer, someone burning rubbish late at night trying to avoid getting fined for illegal burning, and someone that possibly doesn't have access to a vehicle suitable for taking rubbish to a dump or can't afford the fees charged at dump sites, or both.

I had to use similar tactics when I was living in the bush, total year round fire bans in that region. I used to burn at dusk though, when it's dark enough that people won't notice the smoke but also still light enough that the fire wouldn't stand out like a beacon.

Both @tree 's and @Outdated 's posts are the most logical answers to what the neighbor is doing. Though the more disconsurning thing, is the height and brightness of the fire. For virtue of the the idea of sparks jumping.

It looks like he's roasting marshmallows, although this might just be wishful thinking 🤣

I think it would be incinerated in a fire like that. Also, a bad reason to start a fire to begin with in the neighborhood, when not started in anything that can contain it.

As long as you don't see the neighbors sacrificing goats or dancing naked around the fire while chanting, I don't think it's anything to worry about. 🤔 But lighting a fire that close to a wooden fence is not a great thing to do.

The voice of experience? :)
I thought that that sort of thing was a normal Saturday night barbecue in your part of the world. :)

Yeah every saturday at 8pm it's the weekly goat sacrifice to Odin. And there is some fire and naked dancing, but that's mostly just a side effect of the alcohol. :D Sometimes we go to Sweden and pillage a village. It depends on the mood.

Ragnar once mentioned Uppsala. Stands to reason! :p

Yes Uppsala is a special place. A thousand years ago there was a temple there, it was dedicated to the Gods Thor, Odin and Freyr. Uppsala was a very important religious center and it is one of the oldest cities in Sweden. 🇸🇪

It really is bad to see much of any neighbor doing something so irresponsibly.

But it's good that @DaisyRose knows it's out of the ordinary, and worth mentioning.
