Hi All

Firs time on a forum. I'm Si. I had a lifetime of misdiagnosis and was only correctly diagnosed with Autism at the age of 54 two years ago. I do have some co morbid conditions too though. Like others my Autism diagnosis was a 'lightbulb' moment for me & although my life hasn't got any easier int he past 2 years there is now more understanding of myself. I'm here to learn more & If I can summon up enough of whatever you call it, engage with others.

Thank you Outdated. It's good to know that times have changed & Children are getting more understanding & support than we ever did. Although probably still not enough.

Welcome, @Simon68

Misdiagnoses and just outright falling through the cracks, are fairly common. I and many others can relate. It is frustrating. But also, in some ways, almost a blessing in disguise.

I am undiagnosed, myself. But I am finding that I don't need it, to know I am autistic.

But we all go our own paths.

In anycase. I hope you enjoy your time with us here. We all look forward to seeing you share your experiences. There are plenty here to read as well. Since each day is a learning experience.

Feel free to ask about anything you are not sure about. We are more than happy to help you out~

Hi and welcome!

I was diagnosed at the same age as you. I'm 68 now.
It was an "aha" moment which probably would never have happened if I hadn't had a knowledgeable grief counselor after the death of my mother.

Found this forum immediately after and check in most every day.
It is a great place to read and ask questions. So many different topics. :)
