I will explain
@Flinty's special interest a little later, but first here's some background.
@Flinty went to the vets earlier this year after booking in his "exotic animal named Benji". The Vet called,"
@Flinty with Benji" and he proceeded into the consulting room, but the Vet couldn't see a patient at all and on querying where Benji was
@Flinty took out a small jar from his inside jacket that he'd kept close to him to keep Benji warm, on close inspection the Vet then realised that Benji was in fact a fruit fly and starred stuck for words as
@Flinty demanded that she give Benji a full examination as he hadn't been acting himself today. The vet tried to explain that they just didn't have to facilities there to treat a fruit fly, but
@Flinty wouldn't accept it and after getting in a major argument was escorted off the premises. Sadly Benji passed away later that same day and now
@Flinty is looking into the possibility of suing the veterinary surgery.
In memory of the late Benji
@Flinty has now started "The Benji Fruit Fly Trust" or TBFFT for short where his goal is to protect and look after fruit flies and this has become his special interest. As part of the newly founded trust he has started running a fruit fly sanctuary which he named, "Fluttering Wings" where he looks after literally 1000s of individual fruit flies in his home including one's he's rescued.
@Flinty insists that each fruit fly has it's own distinct personality and that they're intelligent enough to be trained, he says that far too many people underestimate them. He has also become an active animal rights activist that campaigns specifically against cruelty to fruit flies, he says that people who swat flies or even worse those who send them to an agonising death by spraying deadly poison on them should be prosecuted for cruelty to animals and then sent to prison for the offence.
